What Coffee Do You Drink?
« on: June 02, 2005, 11:25:33 AM »
If you're a coffee rather than a tea drinker, what sort of coffee do you prefer?

I confess to (before becoming pregnant) drinking Nescafe instant each morning.  It sort of grows on you, although it is a step-down from the Dean & Deluca I used to get each month by subscription back in the US.

I refuse to drink instant.
Our daily grind is Kirkland from Costco, because it's a nice 5lb can and cheap.
on weekends we'll do a blend of French Roast and Chocolate.
Hard to find good coffee here, especially the flavored ones, but we've located a place that has a stall at a market nearby that also does mail order.
FYI it's:

Bluefin Coffee Flavors, Ltd.
Unit 15g
Wintersells Business Park
Wintersells Road
West Byfleet, Surrey
KT14 7LF
0870 44 30 357
01932 342 666

They are really nice people too.

I refuse to do instant as well. My problem is I come from Coffee Heaven (Northern Calif.) and so I'm extraordinarily picky about my coffee. And I just can't find any here that meet my needs.  ::) Part of the problem is that we're in a tiny town with very few places to actually buy coffee. We get by with Starbucks beans, but they're far from my favourite. As soon as I find a new job I'm going to start having a couple pounds a month shipped from either Peets or Seattle's Best. Meanwhile everyone visiting us from the US is required to bring a pound with them.  ;)

Bluefin will have what you want.
My last home was in Portland, OR and before that in Chicago, where my coffee place roasted their own beans.
I fully understand the lack of easy to find, good coffee here.
I can prolly scan their mail order form and email it to you if you'd like.

We mainly drink Dowe Egbert's (red) because I can buy them in larger blocks.  We usually go through one of those blocks a week.  Quite frequently Tesco has them on sale for half price or a buy-one-get-one-free offer.
Insert wonderfully creative signature here …

Oh, yeah. People from North. Cal, Seattle and Portland understand my pain.... I just googled them and emailed them to ask for a pricelist and stuff. It would be GREAT if they had what I need (not want... need!) 'cause international shipping is NOT the way to go!  ;) Thanks!

I have had problems with drinking coffee here, but in the states it was Don Francisco all the way!! Also, I TOTALLY miss those little flavored creamers you could get at 7-11, or any of those places. Yum!!!!!

Now that we have a real coffeemaker, I really like Johnson's American blend coffee. It's one of the rare things you can get here calling itself 'American' that actually tastes like something you'd get in America.

where I got here to my boyfriends place in the UK, I had to take his coffee maker out of the closet and give it a good cleanin!  He drinks tea like it's going out of style, and while I like tea-- I'm a coffee drinker at heart.  I'm from the New Jersey/ Tri-state area....  if anybody up there has ever heard of Wawa....  they got the BEST coffee and I buy it in packs and take it with me wherever I go....so now I have some here with me in the UK! (Hazelnut flavored!  Mmmmm!!!!)  ;D

But never fear, gentlemen; castration was really not the point of feminism, and we women are too busy eviscerating one another to take you on.

For coffee at home I buy Starbucks Guatemala Antiqua whole beans. It's one of the best blends around, I think. When I'm out I invariably sneak in a mocha somewhere along the route.  At work the automatic espresso machine spews out something that vaguely resembles coffee and it does in a pinch.

I so miss the drive-thru espresso kiosks in Seattle! A lab I worked for offered a shuttle from downtown to the lab and the driver would always stop in the morning to let everyone get an espresso. Ahhh, those were the days! ;)
I know I'm late - where's the booze?

I live five minutes from not one, but two drive-thru coffee places!  ;D
Never understood their appeal until I had a baby.  Now I can't live without them.

As for my coffee of choice, I've never been a big Starbucks fan - their coffee is too bitter for my taste (although I would never turn town a frappuccino).  I've discovered a fabulous local coffeehouse that roasts its own beans.  Most of it is even fair trade, which makes it even better.

Anyone else big fans of iced coffee during the summer?  Yum!
