sick.. AGAIN
« on: June 02, 2005, 02:15:37 PM »
This is the 18,000th cold I've had since I moved here.  My throat hurts, my nose is runny and I'm exhausted.  I can't get in to see my doctor until Monday.  Sucking down cough drops and dayquil.  I hate being sick.  [smiley=sick.gif]
Love your life, poor as it is. You may perhaps have some pleasant, thrilling, glorious hours, even in a poorhouse. The setting sun is reflected from the windows of the almshouse as brightly as from the rich man’s abode; the snow melts before its doors as early in the spring. Cultivate property like a garden herb, like sage. Do not trouble yourself much to get new things, whether clothes or friends. Turn the old; return to them. Things do not change; we change. Sell your clothes and keep your thoughts…

Yikes!  I had that last week.  Spent the whole week on Day Nurse and Night Nurse - worst part was my throat.  Then I saw the chemist on Saturday morning and he gave me something to dry up my nose that worked WONDERS.  Go to the chemist first - quicker and they can give you something right there.  This stuff cost less than £3 - less than a bottle of Day Nurse.

Thanks Stacey and Peedal... I can't believe how many times I've gotten colds this spring.  Every time I turn around, I'm sick again.  I thought I'd be ok since I'm not around kids with the lurgy all the time now.  OOOooooooooooooooooh NO.  Someone sits by me on the bus and I'm sick.  I swear I attract people who are contagious!

You should start taking Vitamin C everyday.  I work in an emergency room and we have all kinds of sick people.  It is the only way (other than constantly washing my hands) that I can stay away from all the colds.  Well, I hope you feel better.  Maybe some soup or some juice?

Riccola herbal throat sweets are really good.  You're probably prone to all the bugs here because your system has no immunity to the Brit germy things.  I found when I lived in New Zealand I got sick all the time too and I'm sure that's why because I rarely get a cold here.

I think it's Dimotap Plus.  One does of it has 3x more of the "active" ingredient than one dose of Sudafed, 2x more than that in Sudafed Plus or Extra or whatever it is.

And of course, that first "does" should be "dose."  D'oh!  ::)

I do take Vit C every day but it's a myth that it helps fight colds.  Been drinking a lot of water and trying to rest.  I'm bored though and feel like crap.

Go to your chemist, young lady!  Honest!  Don't wait to see your GP.

Well my mom's a nurse and lives by the rule to take vitamin C to prevent colds.  Just trying to offer some help.

I didn't mean to sound ungrateful.

Yes ma'am Peedal... :)
