What song (lyrics) inspire you?
« on: August 25, 2003, 12:01:13 AM »
Hello everyone,

Earlier today I was considering not only fitness, but also whole well-being.

There are a couple of songs that keep me focused on my goals, remembering all the good possibilities of my life and those that simply put cheer me up!

I list my top three with links to the lyrics, what are yours and why?

1.) NATACHA ATLAS: "When I close my eyes" (Amazingly beautiful video and lyrics for song---since I am in love with the Arabic language, I am deeply moved by that too:) )

http://www.mantrarecordings.com/

2.) OASIS:"Morning Glory" (Probably the best song from easily one of the best albums released in the 90's. The lyrics in a strange way reinforce my resolve to come to England ;) )

3.) MADONNA: "Nothing Fails" (Beyond the cheesy love tones, this song really is quite inspiring if you read carefully. The song is best listened to for that reason--it's quite powerful.)

l adore the song Nessun Dorma, l love listening to Pavarotti sing it! Operas sung in Italian are the most beautiful songs! Makes me curious as to what they are saying so, l have looked up the words to the songs. Absolutely Gorgeous!
Now l can sing them too, In Italian!! Whooo hoo!

It's funny l learned what l know in Italian from these opera songs! I have this thing need to know thing about me. If l am interested in something l have to research the heck out of it! l fell in love with this song Nessun Dorma then had to know what the words meant then l needed to know what the words were in Italian. So this lead me to other opera songs and it just continued! lol I am not fluent in Italian, but l could get by a wee bit if l ever go there!
l love the Italian language now if l could only sing!!!  ;D

for my mental health and to lower my stress, I listen to new age celtic...namely secret garden or clannad...

for my workout music I listen to fast beats, mostly dance styles

Kcg-

Definately. Another really positive Destiny's Child song is "Independent Women"---I think every young girl and woman should listen to that! The message beyond the cute pop sound is quite valuable.

As usual, I'm the oddball here.  I find inspiration in a song by the band Anthrax (and before you start knocking it...check out a lyrics website and read the song lyrics) named Safe Home.

While driving though, I prefer F***ing Hostile by Pantera, and when I'm down, the song Exile by Enya is simply a masterpiece.  When I'm REALLY down, Mazzy Star never fails to sink me lower though :P

Oh my! I think whatever gets you going is good enough!

I am afraid I am only 19 (20 on the 11th October!) therefore I remember bands like Nirvana and Pearl Jam as lapses in an otherwise MTV soaked childhood. Though I agree, Pearl Jam does strike me as a little flakey these days. ::)

Anything that could get my generation out of over-produced unoriginal pop music and materialistic rap would be a God sent.

The closest thing my generation has to what was described was the brief but facinating surge of rock-rap around 1999---I saw "Family Values" tour as a Freshmen in high school....Rammstein pyrotechnics were awesome!!! :o

Though most of the other bands listed on the bill that day seem soooo cliche now. :-/

I have odd tastes for workout music.

Faves include Rammstein, Static-X, Republica, and Rob Zombie.

And booty music is aaaalways good for, ahem, shaking your booty too.  ;D
