I was just curious, I used to work with a Chinese fella who went to Tibet or had a friend who went to Tibet, I can't quite recall and he said that the poverty was so bad that you would be handed a cup to drink and, while you thought the cup was black, it was actually not black but every square inch was covered in insects so it appeared black.  I guess you've been to Tibet, did you experience something like this?

The picture looks beautiful and I'm sure there is outstanding scenery, culture, etc but that store this guy related to me really put me off!

I've been to Tibet.  A dirty little secret about Tibet is... dirt.  There's very little water in Tibet, and it is part of the traditional culture to go around dirty.  There could be something philosophical about it too, something about man and nature.

My parents went on a 3 week trek through Tibet/Nepal back in 2003.  They climbed (with sherpas) up Mt Kailas (in Hinduism, regarded as the abode of Lord Shiva) to about 18500 feet.  You can't climb to the summit as it is not allowed. 

My dad took some great photographs and the scenery is just amazing.  Like Jim mentioned, there was a lot of dirt and barren land in the photographs, and my dad told that the locals were some of the friendliest people he has met.

I have not been to Tibet,too!Tough the people there may be poor or dirty, I think they are very religiosity and the  scenery there is very beautiful! So I yearn to go there.
