Any info is appreciated please
« on: June 08, 2005, 09:28:15 AM »
hi
My fiancee and I have decided to get married. We are currently 5 months pregnant,we have filled out the fiancee visa application and I have my appt in NY on the 16th. Can anyone tell me how fast they make a decision and after their decision is made how soon I can go over there? Also would being pregnant cause any problems with acceptance? Thank you so much.

You're both pregnant?   ;)  Man, I would LOVE to share some of this current pregnancy with my husband - he could have the nausea and weight gain.   ;D  Being pregnant shouldn't cause any problems with acceptance.

It's my understanding they stamp the visa in your passport at your appointment itself, so you should be good to go after the appointment.

Good luck!

thats very good to hear.  Also another thing I just got back after spending 6 months over there (visiting visa) on May 8th. He supported me while I was there the whole time. They want my bank statements to show that I have money but being over there obviously I couldnt work, but in his letter  he stated that he did support me while I was there on my visiting visa and he will continue to support me until I am able to work. Is this going to be ok?

That sounds fine.  My husband said the same in his letter of support for my application, and as you're not allowed to work until you're married anyway, his income and any savings you or he have will be needed to demonstrate that you have enough to live on without resorting to welfare.  My appointment in NY was a breeze, my visa was ready to go 90 minutes after I arrived.  :)  Good luck!

I am so nervous about my appointment. I kept thinking that its going 2 be like, they put me in a chair in a room, shine a bright light on me and interigate me,lol well not that bad but I'm still very nervous, im scared for some whatever reason they will deny me and I'll be stuck here in america and have to give birth and raise our daughter by myself without my guy.
Does anyone know what reasons they will deny a fiancee visa?
This is what I  have to bring with me: all his bank statements,(6 months worth) his birth certificate (he doesnt have a passport) a letter from his mum statng we wil be staying there temporarily, and a copy of her lease from the council, we having letters, phone bills, pictures, a letter from him stating his intentions to marry me & that when I was there he was supporting me the whole time & will continue to support me until I am able to work , a flight ticket back to the uk, western union slips showing he's  been sending me money since ive been back here (since may the 8th ) a letter from his employer stating his salary, his posistion, and that he is pernament, some of his paystubs.  and some plane ticket stubs from when i was there before. We also have already paid the fee online and submitted the application , My in person appointment is on the 16th.  Please if anyone can answer or give reassurance. Id appreciate it so so much,

It sounds like you've got everything they could possibly ask for, and I'm willing to bet that they won't even need to see most of it.  Honestly, I was as nervous as you were before my appointment, but once I was in there it was over and done before I knew it.  It's like when you're waiting in line at an amusement park for a big rollercoaster and you build it up in your mind to be terrifying, but once you're on it and the ride is over, you're like "that's it?  that was nothing!" :D  I promise, everything's going to work out fine, and hopefully you'll come back and post how quick and easy it was after you get it.

It sounds to me like you've got all your bases covered.  The only hitch I can see is the fact that your fiance doesn't have a passport, but that may be alright....I can't remember now what the requirements state about that.

Even without that bit though, I'd say you won't have a problem at all.  I've yet to hear of a person applying for a fiance visa and not getting it, so take some comfort in that.  As long as you can prove that you won't be a drain on the UK taxpayer, and have evidence that your marriage isn't a sham (which you do, and is how your pregnancy actually helps you) you should be fine!

There's nothing anyone can say that will really put your mind at ease until you have the visa in your hand, but do try to relax.  It's a lot easier than you think, they won't be mean or horrible to you, and you'll soon be on your way. :)

Good luck!

:\\\'( seems like nothing is going right. My fiancee sent everything I need to bring with me through parcelforce international datapost with a guarentee of being here within 2 days. (its been almost 4 days now)  It got to kennedy amc customs almsot 48 hours ago and hasnt left yet. the post office doesnt know why. and they said if i dont get it by tomorrow they have to start an investigation. if i dont get it by tuesday my appoitment has to be cancelled.  :\\\'(  :\\\'(  :\\\'(  :\\\'(  :\\\'(

Parcelforce.....yeah, they pretty much suck, unfortunately.  When we sent documents over the same thing happened.  Unless they've made improvements lately, they can't actually guarentee anything after it arrives in the US.  Mine was stuck in Miami for two weeks before they finally showed up.  Hopefully you will have better luck!!  Keey calling the airport where you know they arrived.  They'll give you the runaround, but I just went crazy and called them about 20 times a day. They never admited to anything but the documents finally showed up.  Longest two weeks of my life, I can tell y!

Fingers crossed for you!  I'm sure they will get there, and I expect things have improved since that happened to me a couple years ago now.  Just keep breathing and all will turn out well, I'm sure.  :)

My package is still in limbo somewhere, apparently it somewhere lost between where it got off the plane & customs. Because it hasnt even gone through customs yet. and its been 5 days!!! and he sent it 2 day delivery guarenteed..   He is resending everything (has to get all new originals) and this time we are using FedEx instead of ParcelForce and USPS. and this time it doesnt have to go have a customs form since its less then a pound (weight wise) so hopefully it will clear customs fast and I get it sooner, We are using overnight service he is sending it once he gets all the documents again. I rebooked my appointment for the 28th. I guess its a good thing though because I told him he should get his letter and his mums letter notarized so it looks more official, blah! cant wait until Im done with all this and can laugh about it

Same thing happened to us -- we could track the package up to the point it landed at La Guardia.  After that, we heard nothing until it arrived 2 or 3 days later.  We were absolutely frantic as we were getting married on the 27th and the package didn't arrive in our hands until the 25th. It all worked out, though!   :)

Finally after 10 days they tried to deliver it, and my luck I was asleep, lol. so I am going to wait by the mailbox all day tomorrow so I wont miss her lol. Figures the day I get it is the day my original appointment was ,lol. Ahhh as long as it wasnt lost. I was so worried someone stole it and had all our personal information. I guess its a blessing in a way because the original lease he sent wasnt a certified copy his mum went to the council today and get a certified copy ,so he will be sending that... through FEDEX this time!!!! and I will be picking it up in new york at the hub, lol. maybe this will be easier :) I will let everyone know how it went, please wish me luck and keep me in ur thoughts, (((((Hugs ))))))
