Hi all,

Can anybody shed some light on my problem?
It's all a bit confusing.....my fiance and I are to be married and we need to know whether and how he can switch from employer sponsered work permit to  spouse visa.

Our background is:

He is a US citizen
I am a UK citizen
He is here on a work permit
Hence, we didnt bother with fiance visa
He has been here since October 2004
We are not living together at the moment (forbidden in our culture)

Can anyone offer any advice on what we need to do next?
All the info on the Homeoffice website is confusing!

Thanks in advance

Snez

Is anyone else in our situation.

I think that as long as he has more than 6 months left on his work permit when you marry, he should be able to get his LLR (limited leave to remain) once you're married.  However, you're going to have to apply for a COA before getting married, as he didn't enter on a specific fiancee/settlement visa.

hello,

first of all, thanks for the prompt reply.

we have our COA. got it last week--phew! ;D

I looked for the LLR form on the home office site and could not find anything. Peedal, did you mean
FLR or ILR? If not, can you please post a link to download the form?

thanks!
