Are you getting a one-way ticket for your flight or a round trip? I'm not sure of my return date just yet, but my brit bf thinks it looks suspicious to immigration.

THanks!

I bought a one-way ticket.  With your visa,  you have multiple entry and legal right to come and stay.  That's the point of the visa!
Love your life, poor as it is. You may perhaps have some pleasant, thrilling, glorious hours, even in a poorhouse. The setting sun is reflected from the windows of the almshouse as brightly as from the rich man’s abode; the snow melts before its doors as early in the spring. Cultivate property like a garden herb, like sage. Do not trouble yourself much to get new things, whether clothes or friends. Turn the old; return to them. Things do not change; we change. Sell your clothes and keep your thoughts…

You mean with our visas, we could go back to the US, say, for Christmas with no problem?  That's what I assumed, but it's nice to know for sure...

Yes.  You can leave every day if you want.  I've been home 3 times since I moved over a year ago and I'm slated for a 4th trip in 2 weeks.

How far in advance did you buy your ticket?  I want to buy ours as soon as we get confirmation of our visas, but I'm sure something is going to come up where we will need to change it.  However, we don't have much money, and we need to get the cheapest possible ticket(of course).  So any advice?

Actually, I bought my ticket before I had my visa because I found a great deal on Virgin.  You're not going to get denied your visa so if you find something, buy it.  :)

You seem so sure we won't get denied--I hope you're right!!!  But is it really that easy?  Has anyone out there ever been denied before?

I've never heard of anyone being denied a student visa.  Look at it this way.  Your international student fees are a HUGE source of money to the UK university system.  You have the proof your dh was accepted, what possible reason would the HO have for not allowing you into the country?  If you don't have felonies or whatever, it's not going to be a problem.  Everyone stresses about their visa.  I did.  It's wasted energy.  Really.  You'll be fine.  :)

Did either of you have any faxed things in your applications?

I am expecting a letter from my loan co. anyday this week for approved funds and a fax is fastest, but my brit bf isn't satisfied with that and thinks I should wait for the original in the mail. What is acceptable?

I didn't have any faxed things, but I can't see how it would hurt.  I mean, I know they want originals and all, but if it's on their letterhead and everything, I can't see why not--they will understand that you want to get your app in ASAP.  Oh, I did have copies of my bank statements, just printed off the web.  But they also haven't sent me my visa yet, so we'll see how that goes... :-\\\\

Spoke to a friend that suggested I send the fax letter with a note stating, "original to follow by mail". That way I can send the actual letter off to the them as soon as i get it in case they require it for proof.

It's only been a few days right? I'm sure you'll get it :)

Oops, I posted too soon!  WE GOT THEM!  How would we have ever known, though--no letter of congratulations or letter of "Hey, your visas are in your passports."  If I hadn't called the visa dept, we probably would have been waiting for the stupid things forever.  I feel so silly, they've been here since Friday..... [smiley=blush.gif]  Anyway, they were processed and posted in two days, so pittpanther, don't worry, I can't imagine them denying you!

 ;D ;D ;D ;D
