OK, I know everyone says they hate all these foods, but have you actually tried them all!?  I ask because as a sushi eater I always used to have friends looking at me with disgust in there eyes!  I'd say OK, what's wrong, they would say, ick sushi is gross and I would say oh so you have tried it!?  No, they would say 99% of the time, so I made them try it and 98% of the time they loved it!!!!!

Tried sushi -- I can eat it if that's the only thing on offer...but would rather not. :P

Argh~ hoped this wasn't going to come up!  I have tried most of my hated foods, but some - I couldn't eat out of principal, or for smell or texture.  I forgot to mention indian food in mine and I haven't actually tried much indian food, but I cannot stand the smells or the idea of coconut/curry/etc

I have to be honest, like rabbit, I am sure if someone prepared rabbit in a way I didnt recognise it with a fab sauce I probably wouldn't know, but can't get past what it is !

Yep - add rabbit to my ever growing list as well.  My ex was a hunter and I've tried just about everything wild - I did like most of it, but rabbit and squirrel I hated.  Elk is good, and so is alligator.  I even tried lion at a game dinner, but wasn't impressed.

I've tried everything on my hate list - - - still hate it.  :P

The ones that really get me are the foods that people smuggle into the UK from places like Haiti (Airport anyone?)

Half a pig's face, skinned, dried out- eeek!  Those little guinea pig creatures, roasted whole- ARGH! Or the African dried fish- a la maggots.

I once saw a cookery programme with an Italian chef (famous one, can't remember it right now) and he was in the woods with some italians and they have this cheese sat in a shed for months and the inside is crawling with maggots and THATS dessert  :o

has anyone on here had Haggis ??? how does it tastes like  ??? I'm curious but not willing to try it though. :P

Just had some for lunch today in our works canteen!
It's hard to describe the taste... imagine a slightly spicy meatloaf which is sort of packed into a 'loaf' very loosely, so falls apart, rather than staying loaf-shaped?   Up here they also serve haggis in a sausage casing, battered & fried in chip shops... i always recommend that for first-timers!  :)

Both the taste and the texture can be summed up simply:  mingin'!  ;D

They sell haggis pizza at the Costco here.

I've had the veggie one.  It's okay . . . on Burn's Night.  Our daughter liked it, but she loves all things Scottish - chippies, neeps and tatties, tablet, fried MarsBars, skirlie, stovies, etc.

OP will tell you haggis is gorgeous.  She's really a Scot in an expat's body  ;D.  She even makes lasagne with it.  One of these days she might even sneak it on me.

But I KNOW!  The texture gives it away.  They were giving samples of the haggis pizza away, and my sixth sense told me something was amiss, so I didn't eat it.  DH and DD nibbled away, however.

The veggie stuff from Jenner's is quite nice, tho.

LOL! I dont think she'll get anything past you somehow :)  My hubby and I are hoping to afford a little weekend trip back to Edinburgh before we head off to the States, I really want to come back and have another day or two there, have breakfast at Jenners and wander around- but we are torn between Edinburgh or France- IF we can swing the finances- argh, decisions, decisons :(

I've had veggie haggis before and liked it - it's just like a glamorous veggie sausage really.  My husband was up in Scotland last week and he brought back another one for me and a 'real' haggis for himself. What I want to know is why the veggie version doesn't have the Drambuie in it.
