Work Permit/Tuition Fees
« on: June 16, 2005, 10:57:37 AM »
Howdy,

Does anyone here know if people living in the UK with work permits (or their dependents) are allowed to enroll in University at the UK tuition rate?  Does the international rate still apply?

Thanks!

The international rate applies until you've been resident in the UK for 3 years.

Yup, I'm on a spousal visa but am still expected to pay international rates until I've had three years of residency. HOWEVER, often universities don't have set rates for part-time international students simply because most international students need a student visa and thus aren't allowed to be part-time anyway. So I've been paying home student fees by going part-time. Unfortunately that means more time to finish degrees, more time without work, etc. so sometimes it's really not a terribly helpful loophole.
