Is anyone else as obsessed as I am? Who are your faves? Who do you hate?

Anyone want to actually go to Wimbledon with me next summer? I didn't get my act together early enough this time around.

I'm actually hoping Henman can win it, so he can get the monkey off his back.  Though Federer is looking his usual self, so he will be tough to beat.

I also didn't think about getting tickets, considering I live only 30 minutues away from Wimbledon.  If I'm around next year, I do plan getting tickets.

The match with Serena Williams and unknown Angela Haynes was fantastic! She was amazing that young girl... I would love to have seen her kick Serena's bum, but not this year. She is one to watch though.

I'd love to see Andy Roddick get his chance but I don't think much can stop Federer.

You still might this year:

From the official site:

Buying Tickets on the Day of Play
Wimbledon remains one of the very few major UK sporting events for which one can still buy Court Tickets on the day of play.

Guess it depends on how long you're willing to wait in line; however, I had some friends go last year and were stunned they waited ten minutes in line, and got in.

Since I'm so far from London, I can't really just go and hope for tickets. I'd have to plan in advance, arrange accommodation, etc. Kind of a pain, but there you go.

Yeah, Angela Haynes rocked!! I was so hoping she could pull it off! I was on the edge of my seat! But we'll hear more of her, I'm sure.

I like Henman and Andy, but my fave is the luscious Marat Safin. YUMMY! Plus, he's pretty damn good, so it's not hard to be a fan.

My fave of the ladies is Lindsay Davenport. I've been a big fan of hers for years and it would be nice to see her do well before she hangs it up.

I've always wanted to go to Wimbledon and am determined to do it next year! Should we agree to meet up there in 2006?  I've done the US Open and had a blast. And I always used to go to the Pilot Pen women's tourney in New Haven. And the Hall of Fame tourney and induction in Newport. And that other women's tourney that used to be at Madison Square Garden but then moved to somewhere in Europe. Can't remember the name of it, but I went the last year it was in NYC.

It was a shame about Henman. But not a surprise for me - especially after the first round.

I watched Andy Murray for the first time and was very impressed. He played very well last night and really seemed hungry to win - not sure if that is down to personality or his age. He does look so young with that not quite grown into his features kindof goofy look, (like my stepson.)

But it was nice to see a British player with a bit of fire under the belt. :)

I missed it yesterday because I was driving back from Cornwall all day. But I did see some of the replay stuff and he looked awesome! I just hope he doesn't buckle under all the Henman-like pressure people are going to put on him! He's just a kid! Give him a break!

My boy, Marat Safin [smiley=heart.gif], plays this afternoon. I'll be on the edge of my seat biting my nails!! (Weather permitting, of course  :-\\\\)

Commisterations, Belindaloo!
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

I'm going to be on Court 1 next Saturday which will probably be a Doubles Final match unless the weather really turns sour next week.
I didn't get tickets through the public ballot, nor through my LTA membership but I got them through my tennis club! whoo hoo!!

I'm up for Wimbledon next year.  I think this is the 4th time I've been there in the past few years.  It's actually not that hard to get in nor get show court tickets.  Someone I know went Tuesday and thursday just by queueing up, the first time she got there about 7:30 but the second time got there at nearly 10AM.  You can go to a resell counter somewhere in there to buy show court tickets people didn't want for like £5-10.

Andy Murray will be a superstar if he continues to play as he is.  He's still growing (he looks like he's 16 or 17 even though he's 18).  His shot selection, game play and mental toughness are already showing through.

Federer is absolutely the favorite to win, that guy is an unbelievable player, he has got the full package.  His side of the draw is very top heavy, whereas a lot of the big seeds on the other half (in Murray's side) have been knocked out - Nadal, Henman, Safin, etc.  That might help Murray, although he may need a couple more years to really shine as he hasn't hardly played any senior ATP matches.

Good luck to him!

Matt

But doesn't he play Nalbandian today? That's gonna be a tough one!!

I agree that Federer is the man to beat. I could watch him all day. He's an incredible player.

YAYE for Jill Craybas!!!!! She beat Serena!!! Granted, this isn't the Serena Williams of a couple of years ago, but it's still quite a feat! Jill is a fellow Rhode Island girl and we have to stick together! RI doesn't have many sports heroes ... actually, I don't think we have any ... so we've all been following Jill's career for years. It's so great to see her do well!! Yaye!!!!!

Murray gave it his all, but Nalbandian had the experience and technique to defeat him.  Murray was still able to hold his own against him for 5 sets.  He looked disappointed when he lost, but later said he was grateful for the opportunity to face such a fine player and that he'd learned a lot from the match.  He has a very promising career ahead of him and says he is learning to conserve his energy and keep his head about him during these tough matches, but that he started out the match extremely nervous about meeting his opponent - understandably.

I cannot believe Federer isn't even 24 years old yet!  Or that Andy Roddick is still 22!   :o
