Hen night?
« on: June 22, 2005, 09:47:49 AM »
I recently got invited to a "hen night" for one of my British friends getting married next month.  I'm assuming this is exactly like a bachelorette night. . .is that right?  Any differences I should expect?  Traditions I should be aware of?

Thanks all!

You will probably have a theme and have to dress accordingly.  I've been to one, my SIL's and we dressed as Cavewomen.  It was a lot of fun!!!

OMG good luck ..I don't see them like bachelerette parties at all ...I find they could get worse .... :-[

I've been to a couple and it's madness....usually the bride gets a series of tasks to do as the pub /club crawl throughout the night.
But never fear, gentlemen; castration was really not the point of feminism, and we women are too busy eviscerating one another to take you on.

Well, I live in something of a party-town, so my view is probably biased, but here's what I see:

a group of loud, drunk women (scantily)dressed as cowgirls/schoolgirls/nurses/policewomen, one of which will be covered in glitter, a tiara (usually with flashing lights and condoms hanging from it), a banner reading "BRIDE 2B", and L-plates.

Not my scene, really.  :-\\\\

that's sounds like one I went to... :-\\\\ we went pub crawling and the bridesmaid had a bunch of cards in a bag and the bride picked out a card with a task like : flashing her breast , snog someone with brill cream...whatever it was awful ...(it was a co-worker's hen night)

I've been to a curry hen night then we went clubbing at some latin bar that was better.

My hen night was at the Sanctuary at Covent garden getting a series of treatments and champagne reception was nice ...I couldn't understand getting a hang over on my wedding day

My sentiments exactly. :-\\\\  I wouldn't have had one even if I had known anyone around here to do one with/for me.  Neither did Jamie have a "stag do".  He flat refused it from the lads at work who wanted to do him one and told me that if they dared to hire him a stripper at work (which they've been known to do for others that work there ::)) that he would have walked out.  Thankfully they - albeit begrudgingly - listened to him and left well enough alone.
I was born in the Summer and at Night...my mother named me AUTUMN DAWN.  True story.

Jamie's...beyond the stars and past eternity.

EMAIL or PM me for information about gigs or about booking me (solo gig) or the band.

I assure you my SIL's do was very tasteful and lots of fun.  No one was very drunk at all!

I had two (NY and Boston)  I refused to have a theme(Though we don't do that anyway) and there were no veils, boas or rude items allowed.  No games either!  I just wanted fun nights out with my friends and that is what I got.

i'm sure most of them were...but man there was one who looked like Nick Lacey (jessica simpson's hubs) and i was DROOOOLING

we went in....june or july of last year?  it was so fun and cheesy!!!!!!!  then we went to a piano bar and had a stretch limo and swilled champange.  it was insanity.  i loved it!!!!!!  we did have cards that were called 'that guy' and you had to go find 'that guy' shown on the card and take a piccie with him.  like 'mr doesn't dress himself' and 'mr has something stuck in his teeth'  it was SO FUN.  :)

They had moved to LA before that, I believe. They're dancers and I went to the opening night of Chippendale's in Boston, including the after party. I have to tell you, many of them are gay -- and the others are dumb as posts. We had fun just because our friends were up on stage. But that's really not my scene! My friends hated working for them, but the money was good. They also did all the choreography, so got paid extra for that.

I wouldn't have considered this fun.  But...to each their own.  This would have been more torture to me than fun.
