*Hotlinking to images on other websites*

Hotlinking - using an image that is hosted on another website other than your own. Please, when using images in a post or signature that are not hosted in your own space nor uploaded by yourself, please check with the website's terms of use regarding use of their images, and if permission to do so is required, please get it. Hotlinking is considered bad netiquette and referred to as bandwidth theft, as doing this increases their site operating costs as the image is continually downloaded by another site's display. I would rather not receive any notices/emails threatening legal action because this forum is displaying their images. Thank you for your understanding.

that's correct unless of course you put the image on your own host server then you can hotlink the image as shown above or ask permission.

I have not, no.

It is also generally better to post links to pics, rather than put the actual pics in the post, because it can slow up downloading the page for people with slow connections.

I once used a photo from the internet as my avatar on another site...  I got a nasty email from the site which owned the photo.
I hadnt realised, until then, that i was doing anything 'wrong'. 

Bumpy, bump, folks!  Please do not link images from another site to this one unless you have the express permission from the site owner (i.e, your own site, etc).  Additionally, please do not display copyrighted images on UKY.  By doing so, you put Leah and this site at risk.
