Question about moving to other European Countries?
« on: June 27, 2005, 09:03:36 AM »
Hi there,

My boyfriend is a US Marine and he has decided to go into MSG, Marine Security Guard, which is basically patrolling the US Embassies in 3 different countries in 3 years.  I have decided that depending on what countries he goes to i will follow him so we can be together.  They allow you to put down your top 5 choices of where you want to go and if they dont have your top country they try to send you somehwhere close depending on the openings.

My question is...Since I can get a British passport easily can I simply move to say, Italy since they are in the EU?  (he wants to go to Italy really bad).  If he gets sent somewhere in Europe that isnt in the EU would it be possible to move there?

Im hoping they send him to london.  :)

Thanks,
Michelle

If you have a British passport, you will  have no problem living and working in Italy legally.

What about countries that are not in the EU?

How hard is that process?

Just as hard as if you didn't have a UK passport and wanted to move to the UK.

Some may have working holiday schemes for young UK passport holders but you would need to check with the country concerned to find out.
