Question about time frame to receive Unmarried Partner Visa

Sorry if this has been answered before, but I've done a lot of searching & have come up with many conflicting answers, so anyone who can speak from personal experience would be most helpful...

I am currently in the UK w/ my girlfriend (she's the Brit, I'm the Yank), and come August we will have been living together for 2 years, in Sydney and here.  So, I will go for my UP Visa at the Home Office in Croydon.  Some people gave a 4 week turnaround time, but if all of our paperwork is in order, which it will be, as I am pretty obsessive about such things -- in a good way, I hope -- can I expect to get it that day?  I only ask b/c we will be able to go for it after the 18th of Aug., but then we are off to the US 10 days later for my Father's wedding.  Thanks!

I did two UP applications in Lunar House last week, Thursday & Friday.  One with an appointment made about 4 days earlier, and the other was a hurry-up walk-in for an overstayer.  Both went through right then and there under 3 hours each.   But one got delayed because they wanted to examine her landing card from Stansted Airport.  So you shuold be in and out in about 3 hours.  I think making an appointment is better unless you are in a hurry-up situation.
