Anyone eat at a Gordon Ramsey resturant?
« on: June 29, 2005, 08:25:51 PM »
Watching Hells Kitchen on Monday night made me want to find this out. He is sooo rude if you come up and complain that after 2 hours you have not eaten yet and wanted to know if his food is as good as he thinks it is.

I just adore him - I actually get a kick out of his attitude.  I've been waiting for him to make it to this side of the Atlantic, and now can't wait for him to take over!  Ever see Anthony Bourdain's show "A Cook's Tour" on Food TV?  I love the episode when he's in London and visits Ramsay.

I am hoping to go to Claridges before I leave the country this year, but a good friend had her anniversary meal there and said it was worth every single penny...........the food, the service, the atmosphere, but Ramsey was not in the house that night :(

If you look at the website- they do deals too!

Even if I could afford it I'd be too scared in case he put meat in the vegetarian dishes!

The closest I've come to celebrity chef dining is a glass of wine in Jamie Oliver's place. LOL. I definitely love Gordon and his shows (brief aside: there was the FUNNIEST thing in a recent People that my mom sent to me - they were reviewing the US version of Hell's Kitchen and they said that all his yelling boardered on workplace harassment! LOL. Only in America.) I'd love to eat at Claridges....

Phil Vickery recently opened a gastro pub really close to us. Tried to get in on my birthday last year but they had had a gas leak and were closed that day. Figures.  ::)

His restaurant @ Claridges is fantastic! We have eaten there twice. The food and service was fantastic. I recommend it.  They have a sample menu with six or seven courses which is to die for!  It is a special night out. Its not for those on tight budgets,it will easily cost you £100 per head.

The closest I've come is when the b/f "allowed" me to stand on the pavement and read the menu outside Rick Stein's restaurant in Padstow.  :-\\\\

I've done better in the US -- Wolfgang Puck's and several of Emeril's.

I went to Spago's in Hollywood years ago and don't remember a thing about it. So much for that 'memorable' experience!  ;D

I've bought Wolfgang Puck's frozen pizzas - does that count?

He may be a complete prick, but he knows his stuff.

That's the amazing thing, he is a likeable prick.

I can't even explain it, I understand he is something of a sex symbol (totally don't get that), but I so admire his drive and the way he won't compromise, even if he is oTT about it.
