adverts you love & hate

There was an incredibly effective ad on American TV that the ASPCA put out. It showed a sheltie (miniature collie tied to a tree and sitting outside in the pouring rain, on Thanksgiving Day), while you could hear the hosts and guests laughing and carrying on inside. A kid asks where the dog is, and the owner says, "Well, he's grown up now, so we keep him outside."

Then the announcer said, "Animals need love, too." It's one of the most moving ads I've ever seen. I cried every time I saw it. I wish they would show it here.

I like the Bailey's advert with the girl shaking her head in slow motion, I love the song playing in the background

I like the new Boots commerical -- there's a song with the lyrics, "here come the girls" playing and it's showing a building full of women getting ready for the office Christmas party.  They're in evening gowns, big hair, full makeup, clouds of perfume, using straighteners, painting their nails,  etc. 

Jump to the party -- a couple of men in a gray meeting room wearing wrinkled shirts and ties stabbing at cocktail sausages with toothpicks.

I like this one too. Really well done.

I'm not so keen on this one, because of the song used... I work for Boots and the lines 'Here come the girls' play over and over again all through the day and really get on my nerves, lol!

Bit of inside info: did you know that the girls in the commercial are Boots employees? There was a flyer sent round to the stores, inviting the employees to enter a competition to win a spot in the Christmas advert!

I like the Vauxhall tigra ads that come on during  ANTM..  they have  a parallel  item of the car  to the model on the runway..  boot  and  boot  (get it?)

i dont know what the advert is for, but i love the one with all the animals in the office... a black panther, kangaroos, a skunk coming out of the toilet, a giraffe... cant remember them all.

I just like animals.

I like the Andrex advert with the  baby/ toddler as the boss.  ( I guess I like  cute babies)

Love the Marmite advert with Paddington Bear in it. He feeds a bit of his Marmite sandwich to a bird and the bird is disgusted by the Marmite and then that causes a series of problems... Poor Paddington!

Hate the Vauxhall(?) advert with the weird little sock puppets (which they now sell at Clinton Cards). I just don't get it.

I just saw a twisted advert for a HD DVD player. It had Gingy from Shrek on it. He called up the couple who owned the house and he said that he looks so good that he wants to eat himself. It then shows the couple listening in shock as we hear "crunch! ow!! crunch! ow!! That is delicious!" (or something along those lines, I can't quite remember!).

I'm not sure whether to love it or hate it. 

I can't wait for Christmas to be over, simply so all the perfume adverts will go away!  Every 3rd ad is for perfume!!!!

Okay, one I love.  The Carling ad with the guys in Antarctica.  So funny!

I love the baby boss ones, too. And the animals in the office. One day it was on and I walked into the study and started singing the 'busy busy bee' song to Adam. Now he loves the commercial because of that.

I really liked that weird Thornton's one, with everything stopped and the kid with spiky hair and a yellow shirt. I just thought it was really visually interesting.

Okay, one I love.  The Carling ad with the guys in Antarctica.  So funny!

I do like that one as well.
