and yes i will be investigating about visa :)

that would definitely be the foremost issue, as would be getting permission from your child's father to relocate here.  there are several members of this board who have brought their children with them when they came to marry British partners, many have valuable information regarding what is needed to legally bring a child here - even if you have a visa or indeed, dual nationality, all custody issues must be agreed by court order and signed by a judge before the child can relocate.

and, my partner and i are us citizens so i won't be 'ditching him'(?) in the uk


Sorry -- I just got confused because you were talking about single parents...I couldn't figure out the situation.

The visa is the first issue.  Because quite frankly, without it, you won't be able to plan any life in the UK for you and your child.
