No, that's not what I meant.  :)

I am pleased to find a somewhat conservative political opinion so articulately presented within this forum.  Sometimes I find myself rather put off by the preponderance of arch or sarcastic liberal dismissals that pepper political discourse at UK-Yankee, and I have deliberately refrained from wading into the fray of recent posts as a result.  Thus, having silenced myself of late, I was gratified to find Paul_1966's thoughtful (though, seemingly, controversial) post, and appreciated the balance it brought to our exchange of perspectives.

That said, I'll now return to reading the Daily Telegraph and this week's Spectator.   ;)

     ~ Mark

I agree Mark.  I look forward to Paul_1966's comments as well.  :)

Er... if given the choice (i.e. money) I would happily have my nose burried in Red, Marie Claire, or Heat right now.  ;)

I agree, except the 'Heat' bit.  I'll start reading that again once they promise NEVER to run another 'story' about Jade Goody again.  And I'll buy 'Closer' once they drop that wonky-faced, dozy bint Colleen McLoughlin from their pages.

I do love an open forum where any viewpoint is appreciated (IE: read , discussed and acknowledged even if you don't agree with it) and that's a rare thing whether it's a liberal , religious , conservative or wibble.  A simple statement as "I agree with x statement as it reflects my point of view" would have sufficed as an explanation instead of discrediting everyones Else's opinions......anywho , I digress to juvenile sarcasm ;D

Mark, Liza,

Thank you for your kind words of support.   It does seem to me as though liberalism predominates here too.   In fact I've wondered whether there's any significance to the fact that the majority of UK-Y members seem to be of a more liberal persuasion.

As for sarcasm, I'm quite happy to accept it from either side.  My sarcastic comments have gotten me into a little trouble more than once in the past!

Now if you'll excuse me, I have go tune-in to Rush.....   ;D

I'm confused that in the "Land of the Free"  is "Liberal" such a dirty word ???...can someone enlighten me  ??? ??? wasn't liberal ideals that helped shape America?? I dunno about you but it was "liberal" ideals that allowed me to (because I am black)  to be ABLE to gain an education and to be viewed equally in the "land of the free"

I really don't mind conservative viewpoints bring them in please, please ...I encourage it the more we discuss things the greater the probability we gain tolerance about others. If you believe in your ideals you should not be detered to expressed them , maybe it's because I am always a minority  any situation  ;D I've learned to not let that deter me...that's how I gain more knowlegde about others and learn more about myself.

oh crap I missed a page on my beano ...no wonder the ending didn't make sense..... ;D
