Gosh, I remember pre-tumble dryer days as a kid and having to hang all the clothes on a clothes line. Boy, I'm really aging myself, aren't I? Ha!

Hey I'm right there with you on the pre-tumble dryer days (and I'm just 32). I can even remember the pre-washer days. We washed things by hand in our bathtub (no washboard either). Not every house in the US has a washer, dryer or air conditioning.

My mum has a great photo of me on our last trip to Shetland, hanging clothes on the line outside our cousin's house.  The wind was blowing quite briskly (when ISN'T it blowing in Shetland?) and the clothes put up quite a struggle, but I won in the end!!!

I really don't mind hanging out my clothes instead of using a tumble drier....the clothes smell great, I feel it's better for the environment, and as I generally do multiple loads of laundry in a day, I can dry multiple loads at a time.  Assuming the weather cooperates, of course.  (And the neighbors can get a kick from my tie-dyed knickers!!!  ;D)

When I am grown-up I will understand how BEAUTIFUL it feels to administrate my life effectively.

Until then I will continue to TORCH all correspondence that bores me and to dance NAKED over the remnants of its still glowing embers.

We have a dryer in our place here but other than sheets and towels the rest I hang on a clothes line to dry. I have found that although there is ironing involved then, there is no shrinkage. Most people here in Sweden don't have dryers or if they do they are like me and hang half of it out to dry.
I'm an American (with dual citizenship) living in Stockholm, Sweden for almost 6 years.

My Swede and I are looking towards a future move to the UK.

I agree.  Especially as the sun is a natural disinfectant.

And no one will even notice your knickers around here - people don't bother much about anything here.

So instead I'll come round and have a dig at 'em  ;) ;D.

And spritzed with some linen water from L'Occitane.  Yep, heaven on a mattress.

Sometimes I just prefer that sun dried scent, for others, I have "Cucumber and Green Tea Linen Mist", that's for more humid nights ;)

check out bbcnews online today - there was something about Britain becoming a main technology country or something. I read the headline and kinda chuckled, but stranger things have happened  ;)

Modern technology -- but my computer geek hubby argues that a lot of computer stuff & the World Wide Web, etc actually got started here.

Just out of curiosity which aspects of modern technology do you think Britian is lacking? (Besides air conditioning!)

Besides air conditioning!

I have seen wall units in B&Q.  They have arrived!

I know a lot of people here in the UK who don't have freezers! I'm totally fine not having A/C and I don't use my tumble dryer much, but there is NO WAY I could live without a freezer!
