I am missing America fast food and am pregnant so I am really craving American food I can't get in the UK.

Kentucky Fried Chicken but it has to be extra crispy, can't  understand why they don't do extra crispy in UK.
Taco Bell
Fudruckers
Arbys
Arthur Treachers or Long John Silvers- hush puppies!
NYC Pizza
Philadelphia Cheesesteak
Real Submarine sandwich not Subways.
American Chinese food - especially the crispy noodles, chicken chow mein and vegetable fried rice
McDonalds egg and cheese on a buttermilk biscuit - can't understand why they don't do them in the UK
Salt Bagels - again I can't understand why they don't do them here.
Hot soft salt pretzel
Chicken Salad - not chicken with salad on top as it is in the UK
Pilsbury cinnamon buns
Cornbread
Stove Top Stuffing
Rice a Roni

If you're really craving things, couldn't a lot of your items be made at home? For instance, fried chicken, submarine sandwiches, chinese food, buttermilk biscuits and chicken salad? They'd probably even taste better than the fast-food versions!

Chicken salad is here.  It's called Chicken Mayonaisse, though.   :)

And what's a salt bagel?

I am a good cook but its definitely not the same when you make things at home.  Certain places have secret recipes they use.  I also  couldn't replicate NYC Pizza, Philly Cheesesteaks, Salt Bagels or American Chinese food.  Have also found that things just don't taste the same here even when eating at places like TGI Fridays.

I have had chicken mayonaisse and it just doesn't taste the same.   A salt bagel is a bagel with salt crystals on it.

It's really not that hard to make yourself! I don't think I've ever had chicken salad that wasn't homemade!

Edited because I'm sure I have had a chicken salad sandwich somewhere! But it's never as good as the real deal! :D

I have made it myself and it always taste better from restaurants.  I could eat chicken salad submarine sandwich from Super Shoprite (local supermarket in NJ) at least once a week.

I have posted this before but I have the copy cats book of famous food...I could start a thread of recipes for these if anyone is interested?

Anyone like Seven Seas Italian Fat Free Dressing?

1 1/2 cup water
1 1/2 tablespoon granulated sugar
2 teaspoons cornstarch
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon dried minced onion
1/2 teaspoon dried minced garlic
1/2 teaspoon finely minced red bell pepper
1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
1/4 teaspoon gelatin
1/2 cup white vinegar
1 teaspoon dry non fat buttermilk

Combine water, sugar, cornstarch, salt, onion, garlic, bell pepper, Italian seasoning and gelatin in a small sauce pan. Whisk to dislove cornstarch, then set pan over medium/low heat.

Heat mixture until boiling, stirring often. When mixture begins to boil, cook for 1 additional minute, stirring constantly, then remove from heat.

Add vinegar and dry buttermilk to saucepan and stir. Transfer dressing to a covered container and refrigerate--preferably overnight--before serving

Makes 1 1/2 cups

I have several books just suggest something and I can see if it is in the books!

I'm craving a nice slice of pastrami sandwich
But never fear, gentlemen; castration was really not the point of feminism, and we women are too busy eviscerating one another to take you on.

Helen, curse you for pointing this thread out to me ( ;) )

I now am positively desperate for Sheril's bacon sarnie on white bread. Mmmmmmm.

AND I suddenly realized how long it's been since I've had proper Mexican food, so I emailed the "You Asked For It" page in Gourmet magazine to see if they could get the recipe for my fav. restaurant's Chicken Mole Enchiladas for me - they're the best I've ever had and from this tiny restaurant in Soquel, California. I hope they respond!!!!

I promise I will! I'm always interested in helping to quench the craving for Mexican food that we all suffer so desperately from!!!

Oh, and as for weird PB&J stories, dh hates it and thinks it's weird, but he loves peanut butter and ham sandwiches. Sorry, how is that less weird and more tasty than PB&J?  :P
