Cortisone cream.  It's the only thing that has ever worked for me.  Luckily I've grown out of it, but when I was a kid my cousins and I all had it so bad the crook of our arms would be cracked and almost bleed.  It can be horribly painful if it gets bad so I know how miserable it can be.

I have been putting the cream the Dr gave me but it isn't going away and it is spreading....

But it looks horrible and it is soooooooo Itchy..it hasnt cracked or anything....

Steroid (prescription) cream (think it's called Dermovate) is the only one that works for me when I get a flare up - I get it only under times of extreme stress.

I have heard of people getting relief from Burts Bees products- but I always think excema is never isolated and corresponds to an auto immune response- any other symptons you can think of (not that I mean you to share!) that you might be experiencing.

It sucks and I feel for you, especially as it's so warm and sticky here right now (or is it down here :)

Humid weather makes it worse.  It may improve when winter comes.  No consolation there I realize, but something to look forward to if nothing else works I guess.   :-\\\\

Other than my intense stress levels I have been under with my children...nothing else really...maybe it was the near mental breakdown I had in April??? When I decide to send my 13 yr old daughter to live with my ex husband and new wife and new baby. She had never been away from me like this ever.........

I got tired of her not doing what I asked....lieing to me...about various things one was smoking....and SHE has terrible asathma.........my 21 yr old son having to move back in with us cause he is bluntly a lazy sh*t bag...caused again by my ex husband....it is like living with him all over again..........right now my 2 step children are over and we are having to chase after my daugther (16) and for you who looked at her prom photos realise she is not ugly and also my step son whom is 16...because they are............slightly sexually attracted to each other...so we have to go and see what is up (literally) ever few minutes when one or the other is  out of our sight......

nahhh New Dawn can't really think of anything that might cause this................

But I will take any suggestions.....

 ;D

Yep- thats enough stress to cause an auto-immune response :(
Poor you.

I also have heard of people having success using a sun bed- but skin damage as opposed to skin cracking....difficult one.

This may sound completely crazy, but Crisco can work wonders.  We use it on my son, and it's fabulous.  Any veggie shortening will work equally well.

Thats very interesting!

I was going to suggest Manuka Honey, supposed to be very healing.

I get horrible eczema every summer and have done for the past four years -- we always thought I was allergic to cats because I would always have a flare-up (from elbows to fingertips --HORRID looking!) right after touching Millie, the neighbourhood cat.  We've only recently realised that my birth control pills make me more or less allergic to the sun...something about being more sensitive to UV rays.  Ergo, I was outside when touching Millie...outside when doing garden work....outside when being a lazy slob reading in the garden, etc.   ::)  Since figuring this out, I've limited my time in the sun and have been moisturising constantly (Body Shop coconut body butter)....my eczema is completely gone!

So, are you on the Pill?  And if so, do you spend a lot of time in the sun?  Could be a connection there....

no dont spend a whole lot of time in the sun...i am not a sun worshiper.......i think it may be more a case of the stress and emotional level I have.......but good idea. ..I am glad yours is gone.......it is horrible........

I have a small patch on my arm which I developed right after having Jack. I thought at first it was caused by his sweaty little baby head resting on my arm while I was feeding him because thats exactly where the spot is but a year later and its still there. I scratch so hard sometimes I draw blood. I have put everything on it and nothing seems to help but just yesterday I was doing a lot of work in the garden and my arms and shoulders got a lot of sun. The itchy patch seems to be fine today. Weird.

Mine comes from combination food allergies / stress.  So when I'm stressed enough to eat a load of icecream...well let's just say I'll be regretting it in more ways than one.   ::)

Lots of gentle washing (dove exfoliating is good), followed by applying tea tree oil, and then moisturiser keeps mine under control.

I also get it on my scalp (just like dandruff but even more annoying...) and have found the Original Source, Tea Tree Oil & Lavendar shampoo & conditioner are absolute godsends.  Nothing helps ease my pain more!

Hope this is of help,
wench

Yeah I draw blood scratching my leg..........and now I have little dotted scabs......will look really great on Saturday............

NOT.....

I have ordered this stuff called Freederm from the States................there are tons of testomonials for it on their website....so will let you know how it does.............I bought a special pack that comes with a special soap and moisturizer......cause sometimes I get single itchy bumps on my face that I think is eczema as well....with speedy 3-5 deliver and the package it worked out to about £45. I know it is alot but if it works.............They do all kinds of things.......shampoo and condition and cream......some of the photos are amazing...I hope they haven't been doctored to make them look better....
