Ice Cream Makers
« on: July 15, 2005, 11:36:29 PM »
Hi all, anyone have an ice cream maker here in the UK?  If so what brand and where did you get it?  I want a good one.  My mother bless her just sent me an email she got from Williams Sonoma asking if we have them here.  She wants to buy me an Ice Cream maker for a mid-summer present (I can't argue with that!)  Also I need some good no sugar/low sugar ice cream and/or frozen yogurt recipes.

Thanks all!

I hope you get some good responses to that question, Stacey! I've been wanting an ice cream maker for ages. The problem is that my freezer is so tiny. :(  But I'd welcome some recommendations for future purchasing!

Try www.epicurious.com for ice cream and frozen yogurt recipes. They had this one, for example, which sounds so delicious!

LOL!

Actually, I'm hoping that sooner or later my beloved BF will be "ready" for us to move in together and we can buy a big-ass American fridge/freezer with room for ice cream makers galore!

LOL!!!  We almost got one (Rich wanted it, I didn't care)  But we don't have too much frozen stuff anyway.

Want me to have a word with him ;)

Well yeah, you can only have two programs going at once!  What if you both want to watch and tape something!!!  You have to do it!

I've been wanting an ice cream maker for ages, too.

Im thinking about buying this one from Lakeland, because you dont have to pre-chill anything... you just bung the lot into the freezer (i've got a big freezer)...

You could get a 'Play and Freeze' ice-cream maker!  I saw this one in Consumer Reports magazine recently, and it got some great reviews:

http://www.hearthsong.com/hearthsong/product.do?section_id=0&bc=1005&pgc=1527&country=0&occ=1005

Basically, you add ice, rock salt, and all your other ice cream ingredients, and then play with the ball (tossing, rolling it) for about 15 minutes, and voila! You have ice cream!  :D

It's kinda cool for picnics, etc.
