Hell, Anne's even got me considering . . . *gasp* . . . chardonnay!

LOL! I just now saw this!

Gotta say either "unoaked" or fermented in steel barrels on the label. Otherwise, don't bother. Other catch words: avoid anything that says it's "buttery" or "creamy" or "rich" - go for "clean" "crisp" "citrusy." Honestly expat, I'm gonna show up on your doorstep one day after you've got the sprog out of your belly and prove this to you!!!

I've never had any that I really liked.  Got any good recipies?  I'd love to make it and see if I like it better when I make it myself with stuff I like.

I've never made my own, mainly I've had it in tapas restaurants.  But my friend made an AWESOME batch at her last BBQ -- I'll have to ask her what she did.  It was delish.

WOT?!?   :o
Tell  us about this...

Finally -- I got a job where my REAL skills will be utilized!!! I work for a local brewery (and no - not in bottlecapping!)  It's amazing what goes on in taste testing.  We test 3 kegs and 3 bottle batches.  It's all so scientific!  My husband's friends keep asking if I need an assistant! (yeah right - like I would EVER admit defeat! - ha!)

Now - when we go out during the weekend - I order 1/2 pints to compare the differences between all the ales and lagers.
Another thing I've learned -- when beer is "flat" -- it might be the lines --- it's shocking how many pubs and restaurants do NOT clean the lines as they should! [smiley=bleck.gif]  Others don't clean the glasses properly either -- soap residue.

This is the recipe I use, but there are so many sangria variations that it's basically a question of finding the combo of ingredients you like best:

2 gallons Riojo
1 cup brandy
1/2 cup Cointreau
2 quarts orange juice
2 cups lemon juice
Sugar to taste (the recipe calls for 1 cup, but I don't like sweet drinks, so I use far less)
Ice
2 quarts chilled club soda
3 oranges, thinly sliced
3 lemons, thinly sliced

Mix all the liquid ingredients except for the club soda. Add the sliced oranges and lemons and allow to sit overnight in the fridge. Add the club soda at the last minute. Add ice. Enjoy!

I have a wonderful book all about beer (okay, a few books all about beer... ::) ) - anyway, it tells you all about how you should properly wash a pint glass so as not to taint the taste of the beer you will be pouring into it!  ;D

BTW - there are a lot of drinks I don't care for, but I've never been disrespectful enough against those who do to compare any of them to any sort of "piss."   >:(

Thanks Belindaloo!  That sounds wonderful!!  I've copied it and saved it for "future use" - like maybe next weekend. :)

It was just a joke. Sorry I offended you or anyone else. :-[

I love eating raw oysters and I don't know how many people have called them snot balls or something similar and icky but I wasn't offended that they were called that just because they don't like them and I do.

I honestly didn't mean to offend. I apologise. :)

I love Newcastle Brown Ale!  In the States, you can get in on tap, and it is sooooo smooth.  I took my cousin on a brown ale tour of the UK last April.  Belhaven is a close second for the best.

When I'm on the Hard Stuff, my drink varies by time of day and season.  In Summer, if I'm going to be drinking more than one, I can handle a lot of gin and tonic with LIME, please.  If only one drink, it's a 'rita, straight up, light salt.

My favorite winter drink is Bailey's and butterscotch schnapps.  Jamieson's is the next favorite.  My choice depends on whether I have to walk any distance.  With a B&BS, I won't leave the house.[smiley=dizzy2.gif]

I tried for years to "develop a taste" for Scotch.  I tried all different brands and ages, blends and single malts. Blech!  Then one St. Patrick's Day, I had a jar of Jamieson's.  It was the nectar of the gods to me.  A convert here!

I love red wines.  Merlot and Shiraz are my favorites.
When I find a funnier sig than twistedncynical's, it will be here.
