I like cider more than alco-pops but voted alco-pops because it would have been my second choice.

Ever drank Woodchuck hard cider? YUM

Finally -- I got a job where my REAL skills will be utilized!!! I work for a local brewery (and no - not in bottlecapping!)  It's amazing what goes on in taste testing.  We test 3 kegs and 3 bottle batches.  It's all so scientific!  My husband's friends keep asking if I need an assistant! (yeah right - like I would EVER admit defeat! - ha!)

Now - when we go out during the weekend - I order 1/2 pints to compare the differences between all the ales and lagers.
Another thing I've learned -- when beer is "flat" -- it might be the lines --- it's shocking how many pubs and restaurants do NOT clean the lines as they should! [smiley=bleck.gif]  Others don't clean the glasses properly either -- soap residue.

Wow... what a great job!  You jammy wee divil!!

I used to brew my own beer, and learned very quickly the benefit of properly rinsed glasses!

I tried for years to "develop a taste" for Scotch.  I tried all different brands and ages, blends and single malts. Blech!  Then one St. Patrick's Day, I had a jar of Jamieson's.  It was the nectar of the gods to me.  A convert here!

Try Johnnie Walker Blue Label! Your life will never be the same! :)

Jameson’s is actually Irish whisky, rather than Scotch whisky; there’s nearly as big a difference as between, say bourbon and Canadian whisky.  Irish whisky is indeed sweeter and somewhat easier for an uninitiated palette.

Johnny Walker Blue is good stuff, when it can be found.

Mostly, I drink Macallan, but that’s partly a price consideration -- Costco stocks it, so I can get it for £15 a bottle, rather than £25 at Sainsbury!

Other than that, I’m keen for Glendronach, Springbank (as Cleveland Amory touts it so highly), and since my boys refer to me as ‘Daddy Badger’ (a nod to Wind in the Willows) I’ve adopted Dailuaine, a 16 year Speyside with pronounced sherry tones as my signature drink.  It’s got a badger on the bottle.

What the hell is an alco-pop?

Yes the regular B&James was really good! The US alco-pops are so much better!

If you scroll down on the last one, it shows the Seagrams ads (as well as Allyce Beasley for Yoplait Yogurt!).

EEwww!  Couldn't agree more.  Mingin'.  Reminds me of being 16 and getting hold of those and drink so many I was sick all night.  Haven't touched 'em since.

Seagram's.  Can't drink that stuff at all after an episode in my last year of uni involving too much of that stuff on a Greyhound bus from Austin to Dallas to see the Grateful Dead.

I agree - I don't like those pre-mixed soda pop alchoholic bevs.  They really are starting to all tast the same, and give me massive headaches.
