Barf.  It's right up there w/Bovril for boak factor.

Bovril is beef. Ick. Marmite is strictly vegetarian. ;D

Our hot drinks vending machine at the office has Bovril in the wintertime.... it's so warming and comforting!  Love it!   ;D

Oh gawd, when we go to footie games, Bovril is the first thing hubby gets.  YUCK!  Must be something about that wind whipping in off the North Sea.

On buttery toast, it's wonderful!!

Mmmm... You said it!     Like many British kids, I have a lot of memories of coming in on cold winter afternoons, toasting some bread over the fire and then spreading butter and marmite in just the right proportions for a snack!  :)

It is one of those love or hate things though.   There was even a series of TV commercials for Marmite a few years ago which used the slogan "You either love it or hate it."

Okay, I've calmed down now. I can see that marmalite is one of those things I will just have to try to determine if I like it or not. (But, it sounds pretty disgusting!)

Let's start off another...what exactly IS Bovril? is it a hot, beef broth kind of drink?

(Y'all are just too funny! You're comments are killing me!)

My husband calls it beef tea, but it doesn't have any tea in it.

It doesn't have any beef in it any more either, it's made of yeast extract now which means it's basically the same as marmite.

Stop! Stop! I'm laughing again! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Okay, so let's see if I have it: Marmite and Bovril are basically the same thing except one is a drink and one is a spread? They are beef-like in taste but have no meat by-products and are yeast based? Can't wait to try it!  :-\\\\

I thought they just added a vegetarian version to go along with the original beefy one?[quote Okay, so let's see if I have it: Marmite and Bovril are basically the same thing except one is a drink and one is a spread?
