Hi, I also have a daughter that will be starting her junior year in the states. She stayed this past year with my mother (mom moved into our home in the states) and was supposed to move here this summer. After visiting over the year she decided she didn't really want to move here. We had checked into a few schools during her visits...6th form (like traditional high school continuation...sort of!) and at a local college (''school leavers'' which is like vocational schooling) but didn't get a lot of conclusive information. The last two years of school here in the UK (if the student decides to stay in a traditional setting until age 18) are different than in the US because they decide which classes they want to continue studying. In the US every student has to take 4 years of Eng. certain amount of years of math and science etc. depending on what their plans are for post secondary schooling. The placement here depends on the ''A level'' results, which were taken at the end of what would be the sophmore year compared to US school time table. Gosh...this isn't too clear...my twins are fooling around and won't leave me alone for two minutes!! All I can say is...if you can hack it, it might be better for your daughter to finish in the states, especially if she intends to go on to college there. As for us, we just started the I-130 petition to move back to the US, which we're hoping will ready by the beginning of next summer. Good luck!
