I couldn't wear their stuff when I came here and was a UK size 10 on top and 8 on bottom, Pebbles, so don't feel badly!  Their clothes are NOT made for women w/boobs, and mine were only 36C at the time.

I find it much easier to find clothes for big boobs in the UK than it was in the US. I am a 32D on top. In the US, the only way I could wear a top without popping the buttons was by wearing something that was one or two sizes too big in the shoulders and waist.  In the UK, I've been able to easily find tops that enclose my boobs but also fit properly around my waist and shoulders, so I don't have to look like I'm wearing a potato sack.

I think it's safe to say though that Liz Hurley has serious, serious, weight issues.  This is the woman who didn't leave the house when pregnant.

There was a  time where  she  admitted  eating 6 raisins a day.. her  top size in her  swimsuit line  is  a 14 I believe..     hhmm  does  this strike aayone else  as being   a  bit insecure?

Okay, I'm just going to dive in here! I have had weight issues most of my adult life, thanks in part to a defective thyroid. I lose, I gain, I go up, I go down...on a never ending quest for the "right" weight. Of course, as I've gotten older, I've begun to realize that there is no "right" weight, it's about feeling good, having energy, and being happy...no matter your size. And, yes, I need to lose weight...not to fit some unrealistic image of the perfect woman but to just feel better and have more energy.

I am curious about the availability of plus sizes in the UK. I don't want to pay a fortune for my clothes and am used to being able to buy larger sizes relatively inexpensively. Anyone have suggestions on shops I can check out online?

And I'm not even gonna TOUCH the whole Liz Hurley topic!  [smiley=puke.gif]

i hate shopping for tops here in the US!! I wear a 36D and it seems all the going out gear and work stuff is made for women w/ smaller tops. I avoid all button downs for work - I had a blouse pop open on the metro one day - embarrassing!! (and breezy!). I've always looked pretty bad in strappy things and tank tops. I'm looking forward to the cooler temps as I can cover up a bit more. I hate feeling like I'm hanging out - although it looks like I'll fit in? I def. wear a 12 UK maybe a 14 now. I've been eating as much variety here as I can b/c when I get there, the healthy eating and working out will commence once again. Til then, I want to enjoy my last few days here and not worry about what I'm eating.

I've got the opposite problem. I wear a 34 A and most of the styles in the UK have what I call 'boob pockets' which obviously I cannot fill up!! It really limits the kind of styles I can wear!! Even my workout clothes, which are supposedly designed to be skin tight, have a little bit of shape to the top, to allow for a swelling bosom apparently (!!)  and when I lean over to do lat rows or get down to do press-ups, well, the top edge of my vest gaps open. It's embarrassing. There's no justice for any of us, is there! LOL

I just bought some things from Simply Be (www.simplybe.co.uk) They used to carry sizes from UK14-32 but now I see they go as small as size UK8 on some items. I bought a few sale items last week. A pair of nice pants and top both for £17. That was about half the normal price. Have a look at their "crazy sale".

Thanks, Pebbles, I'll check them out. And, as for the "boob pockets" mentioned by another poster...it's a little confusing to read the different posts. Does this mean that small AND large busted women have trouble with finding tops that fit?

In my case, yep.  In order to get a top large enough to go around my hips at the bottom, the shoulders and top part are way too big.  :P

Oh cr*p! Usually, if it fits in the hips and boobs, the shoulders are halfway down my arms! And, someone my size does not look good sleeveless! Oh well, I'll check out the link and hope for the best!

I'm a total pear.

My top half is a size smaller than my bottom half.

Just an observation....Isn't it funny that you get a bunch of women together and weight/size inevitably comes up? Ahh to be a guy sometimes, you don't hear many of them worrying about how big their butt is or if they will be able to find clothes to fit  ::)

Yeah, but you'd have to learn to spit! And that whole adjusting yourself in public thing is just gross!

It really depends upon the cut of the skirt/trousers.  If it's too slim of a cut, I just scrap it all together!   ;)

I went shopping this weekend and got to do the coolest thing!!!  Lane Bryant was having a panty sale so I went in to check it out - buy two get two free!  Coolness!  Well, they had this thing that looked like a big glass round room.  You stand in the middle of it and it measures your exact body measurements with radio waves!!!  It really was pretty accurate!  Though I measured my waist as two inches smaller at home, I was impressed by the accuracy.  Apparently they are going to measure something like 17,000 women across the country, analyze the data, and redesign their clothes so they fit women better.

For those who don't know, Lane Bryant caters to women who are US size 14 and up.  I can't wear the clothes, but I LOVE LOVE LOVE their bras as I am more "gifted" than most I guess you could say.  ;)

I've recently lost over 25lbs and have never felt better in my life!  I am wearing a US 12, and even a US 10 in skirts.  It's wonderful and I feel so much better and have more energy.  I never could have done all the walking I did in England for two weeks had I not lost this weight before.  I still see myself as "fat" even though I have co-workers who tell me to stop loosing weight, and Simon especially.  He really likes my curves.  I think I just need to firm up what I do have and then I'll be happy where I am.  I wouldn't mind loosing about 10 more lbs, but I'm not going to kill myself to do it.  If I do, I do, if not, oh well.

Getting rid of my car when I move and being forced to walk more should do it for me whether I like it or not!!
