Nope.  I have the most awesome ottoman that is about 4' x 2'.  The top is divided into two segments that flip to be either firm cushions or a tray.  So I have one segment trayed (in the corner, butted up against my love seat) and one segment cushioned so I can prop up my feet.  OH and also, there is storage space inside.   ;D

I LOVE my ottoman.  I got some really great furniture in the years before I moved here - so I put it in the crate and brought it along.  It makes me very happy that I didn't have to part with my lovely furniture just because I decided to move overseas.  I won't even start about the magnificent wardrobe....

What is your favorite decorative or functional element in your home?

I am the total opposite.  I had no furniture back in the US and moved here with almost nothing.  We still don't have any real furniture.  A real wardrobe would be nice.

I guess the best functional element would be the good storage we have in our kitchen cabinets, especially since the kitchen is so small.

If you could make one room in your home bigger, which room would that be?

I'd definitely want the kitchen bigger. Well, it's a pretty big kitchen to begin with, but whoever made it over in the 1970s did a TERRIBLE job with the layout, so there's tons of wasted space. I'm sure it would be 30% larger if it was just designed more efficiently.

Do you prefer wood floors, tiled floors, or carpeted floors?

ETA: Yes, I did mean the 1970s, not the 1907s, since that was shortly after the house was built!

Wood floors!  :)

Do you prefer wood frame houses or brick/stone?

He he!  I guess you mean 1970's!

I like any old house with character.  I guess I'll go with stone.

What major compromise have you had to make in your home because of your partner or spouse?  (mine is that I would prefer a "no shoes in the house" rule, but hubby would never go for it.)

I've had to succumb to the 'no shoes' rule.  It's like Japan in my house.  However, it's been so long I don't know any other way.  But the biggest thing would be cheerfully participating with my wife's friends & hobbies.  There are so many!

What is the longest amount of time you have been trapped in an airport?

I was stuck at Heathrow with a baby once for about 12 hours.  I was trapped at St. Louis airport with a toddler once for about the same amount of time.  The second felt longer than the first though.

Have you ever thrown up on an airplane?

Yes!  It was horrible.  Usually, I don't have trouble with air travel, but I was in a plane that had to keep circling the airport waiting to be allowed to land.  We went around . . . and around . . . and around . . . my stomach couldn't take it.

What is the longest flight you've ever been on?

Boston to Hawaii, a very short haul compared to some. ;)

If you could paint your bedroom any color, what color would it be?

The colours that we have painted it (recently) - deep red chimney breast, 'buttercream' on the walls, palest peach ceiling.

Are you looking for a new job?

Yes. I should probably recover from my jetlag first, but I hate being unemployed!

Do you have any vacation time coming up?
