Trivial Pursuit.

What is the one food item you buy every week and couldn't do without?

These days it is every Friday, and quick trips to a smaller shop for occasional spur of the moment things. In the States I went nearly every evening on the way home from work because we'd decide that afternoon what we wanted for the evening. I'd like a mixture of the two, ideally.

How long do you (on average) go between haircuts?

Funnily enough, just the other day I was thinking how I'd love to see a "The Facts of Life" reunion. I LOVED that show. I wanted Blair's hair and charm with boys, blended with Natalie's sense of humor, Tootie's smile and Jo's street smarts as my ideal, in those days. It would be interesting to see what they'd have the characters be up to now.

How long does it take you, on average, to get ready to leave the house (for work, school, shopping etc), not counting special events where you'd take a lot of time to get ready?

On an average day, it takes me 5-10 minutes to leave the house. I'm unemployed (expat oil wife, recently moved away from the UK) and spend my days hiking or going to the gym, so my routine is throwing up my hair and putting on gym clothes.

On the occasions when I go out for dinner or drinks with my husband or friends, it takes me about 45 minutes from the time I get into the shower until I'm ready to go out the door. My hair takes so long to dry, so it could take me far less if that task was factored out.

What was the most beautiful place you've ever visited?

I think I've been to a few very beautiful places.  Maine, West Penwith in Cornwall, the Yorkshire Dales, parts of the countryside in Scotland.  But the west of Ireland takes my breath away and steals my heart every time.

What city excites you?  Whether it's a place you have been to or would love to visit some day.

For me the answer is ever changing, but at the moment it is London. After our trip there in April, I want more and more. The balance of old and new is so fascinating, I loved the pace (I like fast paced for a few days at a time), and all the amazing things we saw and did. I'm a people watcher (observer of humanity?) and I loved seeing such contrasts in people.

If you had to listen to one song, over and over, every waking hour for a week, what is the one song you could actually listen to and not grow tired of hearing it?

It would probably be Procol Harum's "A Whiter Shade of Pale". It's such a fantastic song and one I've listened to my entire life. The Big Chill soundtrack was one of the albums my parents listened to all the time when I was young. I'm a huge fan of music, so there are many songs I could pick, but for some reason, this one stands out more than any other. It also reminds me of New York Stories, which is one of my favourite films.

What is your earliest memory?

That's too funny--especially because it's your earliest memory!  :D

Not counting the odd camping trip here and there (if summer ever makes an appearance again  ::) ), our next holiday is Ireland (Kilfenora area, on the west coast) in August.

We go every year, it's where met, our friends own the place, and it's a week of working, and week of not working, two weeks of learning and playing tunes!  (plus now we take the car over in the ferry so we can get further afield, up into Galway, maybe even Donegal this year....!)  [smiley=clover2.gif]

Ooops!

If you are sore and achy (muscle-wise) do you prefer a hot bath or a hot power shower?

Probably the only time I'd opt for a bath.

What's your favourite phrase or saying?
