Jaysus!

Do you like DIY painting (as opposed to painting a picture)?

Not particularly.  I'd do it if I had to and probably end up enjoying it, but I'd rather not have to do it.

How do you cope with weeks of rainy weather?

When I was a kid and didn't know what was "cool" I took square dancing classes.  Don't know if I could still do it... and I'm not in a hurry to find out.  :P

What is the best book-to-movie adaption you've seen?

Square dancing is often badly taught. Give it another try and this time make sure you reach Mainstream level.

I'm pretty sure I just b*tch about it a lot!  :P

Do you like going to music festivals, even if it's chucking it down?

That would be a big fat NO (even if it were my kind of music!).

Would did you used to buy lots of regularly at the supermarket that you almost never buy anymore?

Before moving to the UK, hubby and I ate LOTS of yogurt, at least one pot a day each. Once we moved and had a tiny fridge, we got out of the habit, and only had it as a once in a while thing on weeks we had the fridge space. Now that we are back in the land of huge fridges, we will have to get back in the habit.

What was your wildest/craziest 'when I grow up I want to be a ...' career idea as a kid?

Good question, but when I think about it, none of my ideas were at all crazy!  Journalist, architect, artist; nothing very crazy at all.

Was there a certain career your parents wanted you to pursue (if it was different than what you wanted) and if so what was it?

Not my parents, but my paternal grandparents. If a woman didn't become a nun, she was to be a housewife, nurse or teacher. Even at that, becoming a nun was first preference and obvious choice.. which sort of made me wonder why grandma didn't become one if she was such an advocate of the profession.

Do you have any 'change of season' rituals you do when autumn arrives?

Not particularly... I suppose I start cooking more stews, curries and hotpots, compared to the cold meat and salads and tapas HB likes during the summer, but I wouldn't really term that a 'ritual'.

Do you struggle to find tall boots that fit properly?

Yes. I struggle with any boots because of a high instep that seems to make them impossible to slip on unless they zip. If I can find some that do, higher ones are made for calves slimmer than mine.

Do you have a 'go to' outfit for times when you need something nice but no energy/creativity/care to put one together?

I have a nice black cotton dress with an empire waist.  It's thinnish material and short sleeved but I've layered it with a lacy black sweater or a plain cardigan (black, purple, or pink).  That and either my Doc Martin maryjanes or black suede boots has been my dressy outfit for many occasions over the past few years.

What's your favorite museum and why is it your favorite?

The Holocaust Museum in Washington, DC. Even though the subject matter is so depressing, it's incredibly well done.

What's the worst vacation you've ever been on?

All that comes to mind is a ski weekend I went on with an old old old boyfriend in upstate PA.  This was many years ago.  I don't ski and anyway it rained the whole weekend.

What is the worst concert you've ever been to?

Quite easily answered. I decided to be sister of the year when my sister was 11 and took her to see New Kids on the Block, Perfect Gentlemen and some 'girl group' for her birthday. It was the longest night of my life.  ::)

Going with the worst theme, what is the worst gift you've ever been given?

A gift from Santa - a pair of pennyloafer shoes when I was about 7 or 8 years old. That's actually when I realized the truth about Santa; I knew a gift such as that could have only been the work of my mother.

What is your best Christmas/holiday memory?
"The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own. No apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on, or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins."
