« on: August 08, 2005, 09:10:08 AM »
and i survived!!!!!!!!!!   ;D ;D ;D

Only had to walk my bike twice this morning, and yesterday the hubs and i did a test drive and it was awesome!  I could get really used to this biking stuff-i feel GREAT!!!!!!!!

Whooo hooooo.  It will be about 35 min each way, except today it took me about 50 as i got a bit lost.  Whoops...but i'm really proud for my first time riding in rush hour!

Now it's the ride home!!!!!!  Oh well, 9 hours for that yet!

ya know, i'm a total wimp and it wasn't bad at all...people seem to be a bit more mindful as there are so many of us on the road now!!!!

the only bit that freaked me out was turning around to check if i could pass a parked car and having a bus about a ft away from my face!!!!!  it was one of those fuel cel ones that's silent...

but i made it.  wooo hoooo

way to go Amy!  I'd never brave a bike in London.  Driving?  no sweat.  Bike?  Uh,  no!!
Love your life, poor as it is. You may perhaps have some pleasant, thrilling, glorious hours, even in a poorhouse. The setting sun is reflected from the windows of the almshouse as brightly as from the rich man’s abode; the snow melts before its doors as early in the spring. Cultivate property like a garden herb, like sage. Do not trouble yourself much to get new things, whether clothes or friends. Turn the old; return to them. Things do not change; we change. Sell your clothes and keep your thoughts…

Well done!!!

Welcome to the club..it brings a new sense of freedom and empowerment to ride around on two wheels...I get kinda chuffed when I venture on my bike then hop off ..fold it up and trundle into the tube...I heard a few teenage boys going..."whoa , that's so wicked" ;D

I took a course the university was promoting in Camden it was to get yourself used to cycling around london...road safety and gaining expert tips about being a cyclist...can't remember what charity was running it though...plus I got to meet with other cyclist that take the same routes as I do so we commute in a group sometimes...all good fun.. ;D

Plus I'm part of www.lcc.org.uk so I got a good deal on insurance

Well done, Amy!!! You are a brave soul!!! I was just thinking about (maybe? fingers crossed? good job vibes?) being in London everyday and wondering how I was going to cope with having to be on the tube again - I can't bike 'cause it's a train journey for me before London, but I'll be searching out walking routes for sure....

it's easy, you can get off and walk when you need to!!!!

ok, it's not easy, it's a bit trying, but i wasn't being aggressive or overly nervous...it was a good mix!!!

my rump is sore though-2 days of it!!!!

Are they heavy? And dirty? I'm a bit of a girly-girl (which you can read as "wimp" if you like  ;) ) and not sure I could deal with carrying a bike around....  :-[

depends I carry mine over the shoulder...but then again I can fireman's lift a patient if need be... :-[

there is the fold up bikes that fit in a bag so you can conseal it and go on the bus (which they are not allowed) and those are about £200 ...I got mine off ebay...I waited and got it dead cheap because no one else bid for it... >:D

Considering I carry around a toddler girl sometimes the bike is lighter... :P
