Send copies & orignals? (spousal visa - no appointment)
« on: August 08, 2005, 05:36:34 PM »
My experience with US immigration left me over cautious.  They got peeved if you didn't have the orignal plus a copy of everything.

My question is this:  when I send off my nicely organized binder of proof associated with my spousal visa application, do I need to enclose a copy of each original?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Don't send more than you have to.  If they ask, send it.  If they don't ask, don't.
Love your life, poor as it is. You may perhaps have some pleasant, thrilling, glorious hours, even in a poorhouse. The setting sun is reflected from the windows of the almshouse as brightly as from the rich man’s abode; the snow melts before its doors as early in the spring. Cultivate property like a garden herb, like sage. Do not trouble yourself much to get new things, whether clothes or friends. Turn the old; return to them. Things do not change; we change. Sell your clothes and keep your thoughts…

that's just it, they don't ask specifically for copies...whereas with the US not only do they ask for copies, you have to sign a form stating that they are true and unaltered copies...

so, no?

If they wanted copies, they'd say they wanted them.  So, no need to send copies.   ;)

In my experience, Kristi is right.  I sent a nice neat set of originals only, with a cover letter listing what they were.  No problem.

It's a whole lot easier than getting a UK driver's license too.

Hi Trillian,

You probably have already seen this but this will probably put your mind a little more at ease :).  I have been freaking out thinking about the spousal visa process and after reading this thread I personally feel a WHOLE lot better.

Hope this helps if you haven't already read it.   ;D
