Letter of "permission" for kids' visas
« on: August 09, 2005, 01:50:57 PM »
In order to speed the process up a little, I've offered to draft a letter for my ex to sign giving his permission for the kids to move to Scotland with me.  This is the letter I'll be submitting with their visa applications.  (He's assured me he'll sign it and get it notarized and right back to me....whatever 'right back' means in his world... :P)  Anyone who's already submitted a letter like this for children's visas care to give me an idea of what it should say?

Thanks!
When I am grown-up I will understand how BEAUTIFUL it feels to administrate my life effectively.

Until then I will continue to TORCH all correspondence that bores me and to dance NAKED over the remnants of its still glowing embers.

Mine went something like:

(Father name), by signing this agreement, hereby gives complete consent for (Mother name) to remove (Child name), their (son/daughter), from the United States.  Furthermore, (Father name) is aware and understands that (Mother name) and (Child name) will be leaving the United States with the intent of permanent residence in the United Kingdom, and that (Father name) will not purse any form of legal action for the removal of (Child name) from the United States.

There were other clauses in our agreement based upon our individual circumstances, but that was the gist of mine.  It was signed by both of us in front of notary.  The document was accepted for visa purposes over 7 years ago, so your mileage may vary.
Insert wonderfully creative signature here …

Thanks, Cait.  Just wasn't sure how to begin!  :-*
