Premiums can vary widely, depending upon age, experience, area, the car, your job, and a whole load of other factors, many of which seem completely irrelevant.
My premium runs under £200 per year for any normal sort of family car -- Age 39, U.K. license for 23 years, category A (lowest) for risk, no accidents/convictions.
At the other end of the scale, I was discussing premiums for young drivers with somebody a few days ago. We plugged in some data for a typical newly qualified driver - student, age 17, living in London. Even for a tiny car it came up at over £2000.
