Can anyone give me an idea of what car insurance will run in the Uk for one vehicle?

Thanks

I've been looking lately.  The quotes I've gotten (based on a brand new UK license and 11 years of clean driving in the US and a 5-year old car) have ranged between £900 and £1100 per year.  You can plug in your own values in most of the sites online and they'll give you an immediate quote.

Premiums can vary widely, depending upon age, experience, area, the car, your job, and a whole load of other factors, many of which seem completely irrelevant.

My premium runs under £200 per year for any normal sort of family car -- Age 39, U.K. license for 23 years, category A (lowest) for risk, no accidents/convictions.

At the other end of the scale, I was discussing premiums for young drivers with somebody a few days ago.  We plugged in some data for a typical newly qualified driver - student, age 17, living in London.  Even for a tiny car it came up at over £2000.    :o
