Extension for WP- in person application

went to croydon yesterday.  appointment was at 1:30, got there at 1:05.  their computers had been down earlier in the day so there was a LONG q.  my number was something like 258 and when i got in they were calling 109 etc... i was finally seen around 4:45, had my work permit sticker (much fancier than the old black stamp thingy) by 6pm... out to brave london traffic.

Congrats!  What did you bring with you?

what i brought and what they wanted to see were very different.

What they asked for:
old passport with old stamp, new passport, letter from Work Permits UK granting me an in-country (original- will not accept photocopy), two passport size photos.

What else I brought:
letter orgianally granting me a work permit, bank statements 6 months, pay slips 6 months, P60, P11D. 

The officer and I exchanged less than 2 sentences to each other.  except for the long wait (thank goodness i went to marks & spencers food hall before and got myself a picnic), painless.  when do you go for yours?

Not until March or April of next year...that's assuming that I get a new contract (which I think I will)!
