ice cream trucks

Silly question, but my kids are very interested in the whole ice cream truck thing. Do they still drive round each town or neighborhood like they did when I was a kid?

YES.  TWICE A DAY in my neighbourhood.

MUST. NOT. KILL. ICE. CREAM. TRUCK. DRIVER.
Love your life, poor as it is. You may perhaps have some pleasant, thrilling, glorious hours, even in a poorhouse. The setting sun is reflected from the windows of the almshouse as brightly as from the rich man’s abode; the snow melts before its doors as early in the spring. Cultivate property like a garden herb, like sage. Do not trouble yourself much to get new things, whether clothes or friends. Turn the old; return to them. Things do not change; we change. Sell your clothes and keep your thoughts…

Yes, and for some reason the song of choice is Green sleeves. I saw two of them parked and gearing up for the run yesterday

In my town they just tend to lurk where they know there will be children. :)

Thank you. My seven and eight year old just went from, "Okay, I guess moving will be an alright thing to do " to "Cool, when do we leave and do we have to spend our allowance money at the icey or will you give us extra"
Who could have known that an ice cream truck could save my day!!!!!!!!!!!!

One comes around here quite often during the summer months, usually playing "The Happy Wanderer."    In fact it was here about an hour ago!

Don;t forget to follow Tufty's advice when you go to get your icecream, will you?     :)

Twice a day in the summer, once in the evening in winter...
In addition to ice cream, our one also sells bread and milk!

wow. the memories. My dad was in the royal navy and once when he was home on leave he drove an ice cream truck in Plymouth. My sisters and I would be so excited to ride in the back, it didnt even matter that we froze our butts off sitting on cold boxes. The song was 'moulon rouge'. I think its spelled right, anyway a hit in the fiftys.
I would not seek the desert, or red palaces.Where reigns the sun, nor sail to magic isles......

Theme from The Moulin Rouge (The Red Windmill)   :)

Also known by the alternate title "Where Is Your Heart."

Yes the ice cream vans are all over ..it's horrible when you've got a child..nevermind that there is a freezer full of all kinds of ice cream ...Ice cream is not ice cream unless is being serve out of a diesel ladden automobile... :P

Come spring one parks it's butt on the high road ..so I have to devise some sort of distraction coming home from school to avoid the "mummy can I have some Ice cream " question.

We went to the Ben and Jerry thing that was HOURS of free ice cream of any flavour...as soon as we walked out of the festival gates there was an ice cream van ...I can not believe Jessica had the nerve to ask "Mummy can I have an ice cream from the ice cream van" .... ::)

But never fear, gentlemen; castration was really not the point of feminism, and we women are too busy eviscerating one another to take you on.
