I guess I've been lucky - my flight times have NEVER been changed in all the years I've been flying.

I've had flight times changed, but only by 20 minutes or so.

My experience with KLM was a bit inconvenient - but it worked out.  My flight from Cardiff to Amsterdam was cancelled due to fog in Amsterdam (all flights not just KLM were cancelled)...they taxied me (free of charge) to London to catch an American Airlines flight to Chicago and then on from there to meet my original connections.  AA was a FAB experience btw.

On a similar note regarding layovers: I am going to Maine at the end of September and just noticed I have an EIGHT hour layover in Boston.  Any ideas of what to do there?

Rent a car and drive to your destination in Maine.  It will take less than eight hours.

Hadn't thought of that...hmmmm...possibility!  I was going to rent a car in Bangor anyway! Thanks!

edited to add: Actually...I just did some research and it would take me 5 1/2 hours to drive to northern Maine from Boston...after an 8 hour flight - I think I will stick it out in Boston for 8 hours - chance to stretch my legs.

So...still need advice from anyone that can recommend something to do....

Susie
Very late on reading this post but wanted to say I'm SO glad you didn't take the CO flight! My sister flew in on a CO flight a few months ago and it was a total nightmare! First they delayed her in NY. Then they completely changed her to a different airline! And the worst part was that other airline was US Airways. OMG! Don't even get me started on US Airways!
Anyway, when do you arrive? Next time you fly to Birmingham check with KLM. They are pretty good, decent fares but you have to change planes in Amsterdam which isn't bad at all.

I am flying through Amsterdam, to Birmingham with Northwest. Fingers crossed they get everything worked out with the mechanics strike and financial troubles before November! I will arrive November 17th.... still quite a ways off.  :( But the good thing is I will be there, even if it's not very soon!  :)

Yes, I'll be there for Thanksgiving. Flying in on November 17th and staying until November 29th. We'll have to get in touch before then and see what we come up with  :D
