infant formula

We currently use SMA Gold formula here in England, but we are going home to the States for an extended holiday of 2 months, and I am trying to find out what infant formulas in the States would be closest to SMA Gold. 
I am taking 3 tins of formula over with us, and I am also taking the cartons for the trip there, and for the trip back, but we just don't have enough room in our luggage to take any more formula with us!

Any help is greatly appreciated!

You could try and look at the ingredients of the US products. Here are a few for you to try and look up...not sure if they list what is in them, but at least you will have some names to go by and may be able to contact the compainies to get a list. Hope this helps. Many stores have generic versions, my son was on the WalMart brand and it was made at the same factory as the name brands.

We used Nessle (www.verybestbaby.com) and then the Walmart formula.  Have you thought of mixing a formula from the US with your formula.  Once you find once close over here just mix the powders half and half.  That way you're less like you have a gassy, fussy baby from changing fromula.

Yep, this is what we did. We used Similac to mix with Aptimil. Worked well.

This is exactly what happened to us! We went to the USA for a few weeks and our baby was on SMA white. We actually called the phone number listed on the can and they told us that Walmart brand was the same as SMA white! Give them a call before you leave!

We used SMA when we immigrated to the US, and switched to the NEstle Smart Start formulas. I found that their ingradient list most closely matched what we were already using. Philip never had a very sensitive belly though, so I'm pretty sure he'd have been happy as a fat cow with anything we gave him.

Eldest dd was able to switch quite happily between SMA and the Nestle (or was it Carnation?) 'Smart Start'....no gassy tummies or anything...

Janna, another hint, as formula is expensive on both sides of the pond: Try looking on the net for coupons that you can print and bring with you. I did this on a few things. Also, might want to look into joining a formula site, and put the address of wherever you are staying and there will be formula or coupons waiting for you.

I was wrong with the name... Nestle makes Sure Start formula... Smart Start is an adult cereal.  ::)
