Actually, I've never seen a laundromat. I have never looked for one, but have never come across one either.
There are laundromats around in Chatham area. I have had to take my duvets to laundromat to wash, because my washing machine is to small to handle such a big load.

I have found one in my village.  But I won't need to use it until the winter.  I can still hang out my bath sheets and sheets outside in this gorgeous weather.

Laundromats are still around, although you may have to look for the British term "laundrette" on the sign.

The ones which have survived though are sometimes hidden away.  The one in my nearest small town is in a small group of shops in an out-of-the-way arcade.  You have to go down a small side street, then through an archway to get to it.   You'd have to know it's there to be able to find it really.
