Oktoberfest. . . .
« on: August 18, 2005, 02:08:22 AM »
Anyone been to Oktoberfest in Munich? My husband and I are going next month, and are eager to hear any information or tips that anyone may have.

Thanks!

Oktoberfest is in September.

The boys in Munich are drinking beer as a given.

Your tip.

The Munich boys are all and always drunk-pissed as a standard.

So, I guess the tip is, "people get drunk at Oktoberfest"?   ???

I'd love to go to one, especially in Munich.  I've heard it's a beautiful city.

Can't wait to hear about it!

I've been to other places in Germany, but not (yet) to Munich.
DH's best pal goes every year for Oktoberfest.
Once, he sent me a photograph of the special vomit sinks that they have in some of the big bier halls...I was amused by that!  :)

I have a few friends who've been ..... another excuse to get slaughtered en masse along with the running of the bulls in Pampalona etc etc.

I've been several times (went to Uni in Munich). Munich is lovely, Oktoberfest, well....you'll just have to see for yourself ;)

I went in 1999...it was an experience! I had a good time...if I were a young, impressionable uni student I might have had a "worse" time by getting completely drunk the whole time! But, I was a 30-something responsible woman..hahaha...did spend several nights drunk with friends that live in a small city near Garmisch-Partenkirchen...but that was more civilized! Anyway...what I want to say is, it is really fun to see all the people. I like people watching. If you can get away, we travelled throughout Bavaria and a bit of Austria for two weeks, then the area is soooo beautiful. There was this one walled city I really liked in particular....can't remember it. Hmmmm...Kathe Wolfhart store was there...Rothenburg! That is it...Rothenburg ob der Tauber. Have fun!

I have been there a few times. The only tip I have is go early to find a spot to sit down. They wont serve you inside the tents unless you are seated. Octoberfest is good fun. You will meet lots of Americans there. There a quite a few Military bases nearby.

Is it only in September?  I thought it was in October or something.  Maybe I will go for a weekend or something.
