where'd I get the nickname wench....well, about the time I met my husband I'd just started a job as a waitress.  (wench used to mean...among other things...serving girl...generally a saucy one at that lol) and i was in a well, wenchy mood.  :)  So I logged on to chat as wench and it just stuck.   [smiley=mad.gif]
when I met David he was velcro (equally odd story for that name) so I eventually set up an email under velcroswench.
yup, I'm nuts.  ;)

Well, here's another Iowan to the group. Actually I was only born there in good ol' Ottumwa (home to Radar O'Reilly of course) but spent most of my summers there with all my relatives in Davenport, Cedar Rapids and Council Bluffs.

There's something very special about Iowa and although I didn't grow up there, I always felt the pull of my ancestors whenever I stepped off the plane (farmers you know).  And Bridges of Madison County makes me want to weep!

Personally I still love Field of Dreams and one day I will take a trip out there to see the actual field that inspired the story.  :)  Is this Heaven?  No...it's Iowa...
I was only there one year and it feels more like home to me than Georgia (where I lurked for 11 years).  <waves hello>
don't mind me...I've had icecream and am hyper!  mua ha!

Bah - I've been gone a week and I miss all the newbies! Welcome wench! Love the "velcroswench" idea, I'm still trying to get my gentleman friend online here (He's a David as well, though not with as much hair as yours) and so far his best idea at a screenname is Marlespos_Shag. Sigh. He's romantic, n'est-ce pas?

Anyway, welcome and glad to meet you and hope you stick around. :D

Oh.

My.

God.

Beloved Shag.
That's perfect.

I might even have to just sign up for that name in case he ever *does* decide that the internet isn't a big scary thing and feels like he can play here. :D

Lol I was feeling nostalgic and went trolling through the records to see my orignal intro post.  :D

Whatever happened to Hovis?   :'(

And I'd forgotten allll about nicknaming Marles' David.

So did you ever get round to calling him Beloved Shag?

;D

Yeah, I still talk to Hovis sometimes on IM, she's in California and has generally stopped coming to ex-pat boards now that she's re-patted. :) ANd nope - I forgot about Beloved Shag! I will sue that when he walks in the door tonight from work.  [smiley=heart.gif]
