I've actually found the recipe for Groaty pudding, havent had it in years, lovely grub.

http://www.blackcountrylass.co.uk/grorty.htm

Grorty (Groaty) Pudding

This is a traditional Black Country dish made of beef and oat groats.  It is an autumn dish (usually served in my house on bonfire night) and can be served with a slice of crusty bread.  It is almost like a risotto, but made with Groats and meat. This is my Mother's Recipe, it was her Mother's Recipe before that, and probably her before that!

Ingredients

A couple of pounds of  Beef Shin, cubed  -Stewing Beef/Steak can also be used. Some recipes say lamb, or other meats... this isn't true for traditional Grorty Pudding. It tastes better with beef.

A cup full of Groats - available from Health Food Stores, and your good Black Country Butcher. Groats are whole grains of oats. Not oatmeal, not porridge oats, Groats are Groats. Do NOT use anything else.

3 or 4 Onions - finely chopped.

Leeks - if desired. Substitute onions for leeks, half and half, or whatever ratio. Personally I prefer it without.

Seasoning as required.

And extremely important... as pointed out by one annoyed reader... Liquid!! Water, stock, or whatever tickles your tastebuds!

Method

Some people seal the meat, some people don't.   We don't.  Just throw the whole lot into a good casserole dish (one with a lid), and cook.  As for cooking time, if you prepare it and put it in the oven around mid-morning (say 10.30, 11am ish), it will be perfect and ready for dinner at 5.30pm, 6pm ish.

Lovely stuff, best if you can find a local butcher that makes their own, nice fresh blood and loads of fat,and none of that plasticky skin you get in the supermarket stuff.Dave

I've always considered myself adventurous with foods and am almost always willing to try something at least once but after reading this description, all I can say is, " [smiley=puke.gif]!"

But never fear, gentlemen; castration was really not the point of feminism, and we women are too busy eviscerating one another to take you on.

Morrisons do a great one, about 2ft long ideal for parties(or if you're really hungry)cost about 5 quid though. They also do one same size with the eggs in it.
