Halloween in the UK

yup if you're expecting Trick or treaters then you'll be disappointed ..most folk do private fancy dress do's or clubs do themed halloween nights

I dont think this is quite right... 'most folk' do absolutely f*ck all for Halloween.

I'd have to agree with Otterpop...my four years in London saw exactly ZERO trick-or-treaters and I can't think of a single person I know who did anything at all for Halloween.  It may be changing though.  When I first moved to the UK, you couldn't find a pumpkin or anything Halloween-ish for love or money.  But I see M&S has a whole range of stuff this year.  Still no proper pumpkins, but nevermind. 

I think it is getting 'better'... if you like that kind of thing!  You see more decorations about these days.

But as i said before, i had only a handful of trick or treaters in London, NEVER had any in Glasgow, and despite my current neighbourhood being chocka with bairns, i have only had 2 or 3 trick or treaters each year here in Lithgae.

Nobody i know, even amongst the cool & trendy crowd at my work, goes to Halloween parties or Halloween themed club nights...  I KNOW there are people that do, but it doesnt really seem to be that popular.

I could care less about the trick or treaters. But definately looking forward to the costume parties & balls!

My field hockey club does a bang up job of Halloween - we had a blast! (and we're in London)  Tons of costumes and a great dj!

LOL! I'm exactly the opposite! I always get some candy just in case 'cause I can't stand the thought of a wee one ringing our bell and not getting anything, but I HATE costumes!  Hmmm. I do love a good party/ball though.

they do in my area ...the local shop sells out of stuff and I've been here for about 5 years this started about 3 years ago and if I don't buy my stuff before the final crunch there will be nothing left.....and as Springed said the camden shop is already selling Halloween stuff..the local arts centre is doing a halloween bayou (WTF is that)

I live in an area with more goths so maybe that's it..

When i lived in London (several years ago) it was only the gay community that did Halloween!

Times change! 

lol!!  people are not as mental for halloween here but it's a new fad in some parts.. maybe because  I hang out with nurses and uni folk that could be why ( any excuse to party )
