A country omelette(minus the ham) from IHOP with a ton of hot sauce.  Pancakes with butter pecan syrup.  Yummy!
We used to go in the evening when it was not as crowded.
IHOP was our last meal before heading out of the states for the last time.

Back in the US I would only go to those commercial breakie places after a heavy night out. Usually a group of us would go about 2am. I loved it! But Im not sure how much I would care for it if I were sober! lol
Bob Evans;however, is very nice!

I took my family to IHOP last week as they don't have one close to them. I am not a huge pancake person generally, but their pancakes RULE!  :)

I miss going to the donut shop, or my dad coming home with a box of donuts and the papers. And I miss going out to breakfast, too. Ah well. Me and my daughter make do with walking to the corner shop and getting a sugared pastry that almost passes for a donut.

Actually I should say, instead of making do, me and my daughter are making new traditions :)

Do they not have Gregg's bakeries in Ulster, Stella?  Can't recall seeing them, but wasn't really looking, either.  They do nice donuts!  And coffee, too.  There's one just up the road from our place and my dad likes to go there in the mornings and bring back a box of goodies - and coffee, of course.

Not exactly Dunkin' Donuts coffee, but still yummy!

Haven't seen a Gregg's bakery, used to see Dunkin Donuts but I think they closed. Morrison's bakery does some (truly awful but will do) donuts, and Dunne's actually does some nice ones. None are in walking distance though!

But it makes it nice when we visit home, and dad and my daughter get in his truck and ride to the local donut shop, come back with the big pink box, the papers and the big styrofoam cups of coffee.

Aw!  Gregg's has been a real bonus up here and my dad's home away from home - with all its greasy Scottish specialities like sausage rolls, bridies and Scottish (mince) pies in addition to donuts.  Hey, they don't call this place The Sick Man of Europe for nothing  ;D.

We have a pub close to us that does early morning (8.00ish) breakfasts on the weekends.  If they had pancakes then they would be almost perfect, but they are pretty good anyway.  We tend to go there on a Saturday morning,,have breakfast, read the trashy newspapers and drink decent coffee, then head off to the market,,,,nice way to start a Saturday!

I rarely went out for breakfast and usually picked eggs anyway - so the fry ups here are quite a happy experience.  I've made pancakes a few times for Roy and he loves them!  Plus you can get french toast at my local breakfast place so if I want a sweet one I get that.  Then again, I've never been tied to food in the States...I don't miss a single item of food from there...which sets me apart from many people.

Ah, French toast! We dont go out for breakfast here so I dont know if we have it in our local restaurants. I love it though and make it at home once in awhile.
I don't really miss food from the USA much anymore either with the exception of a nice, Flukey's, Chicago style hotdog!

We've got lots of bakeries and tea shops here and in most places I've lived in the UK but almost none of them have been open on a Sunday which is when I like to go out for breakfast. I don't think I've ever seen a Greggs that's open on a Sunday.

I miss lots of US food though I'm good enough in the kitchen I can more than make do. I even make my own bagels!!

But as I said before, I miss the [feel of eating out for breakfast - especially on a Sunday. Here, the tradition is Sunday lunches, which are nice, too. But I sure do miss breakfasts! My DH would easily become a breakfast out convert, too!
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon
