These people's smoothies and "thickies" (made with yoghurt) are soooooo good.  Anyone else hooked on 'em?

I like 'em but they're too expensive. I'll make my own instead!!
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

I bought one for Coby when we were at Starbucks. Very nice but I would have perferred it a bit more chilled.

They're not bad -- remind me a bit of Fresh Samantha. Anyone drink those in the US? Both are a tad too gloopy for me -- when I make fruit smoothies at home, I blend in a lot of crushed ice -- but the flavours are good!

Hmm, might have to give it a try!  I don't know how to make them.

This one looks great!

Yeah, but they don't make Fresh Samanthas anymore and haven't for a while now. They've been replaced with Odwalla and Naked.

Innocent drinks are good and much better than fake sugary fruit juices, but they're sooo expensive for such a tiny bottle.

The cartons are £1 off in Waitrose at the moment :)

I wish I still had a blender, I have got hooked on the "fruit blasters" or boosters from Nero's, they make a wonderful lunch on these hot days (Mango- Peach & Passionfruit or the traditional banana/orange type) blended with tons of ice, they really fill you up- but £2.40 a shot and I had three this week ::)

BUT....lost another 4lbs so not complaining tooooo much :)

I love my blender and so do the boys.  We make loads of smoothies, especially through the summer.  Any fruit to hand!  It's fantastic when Sainsburys has 2 for 1 on pineapples and mangos -- that makes a tasty treat.

I used to chug a fresh samantha most days for lunch! Loved them! Did you know they got bought out by Odwalla?

I love Innocent cranberry/raspberry. A few of you know that one of the few things I miss from the US is being able to find unsweetened cranberry juice here. It may just be the Newcastle area. Maybe Sainsbury's has it, I haven't shopped there, ever (can you believe it?!) anyway...I've made my smoothies for breakfast for years. So, usually throw in melon, banana and frozen raspberries for thickness.

But you're right...Innocent rocks!

I really want to do smoothies more often, but I hate banana (utterly despise the smell/texture- hate not- don't- mind it- hate!) so how do you keep them thick- is it the ice?

I am terrible for fruit- I don't like it  :o, but I do like these smoothies, would someone share recipes or amounts with me? Or, do you literally chuck in whatever you have, press go and thats it?

They're too expensive.  We make smoothies at home.

Some greek yoghurt should thicken them up nicely w/o banana, New-Dawn.  So will putting frozen fruit in.  Costco does a big bag of frozen fruit for about a fiver.

Just put greek yoghurt, frozen fruit and fruit juice if you don't care for banana.

Back in the days when I had braces on my teeth (and even now, when my TMJ is acting up) I made yogurt-fruit smoothies, and they were wonderful!!!  A pot of yogurt, some frozen fruit, and a generous handful of ice.  Blend it all together....mmmmm... :)
When I am grown-up I will understand how BEAUTIFUL it feels to administrate my life effectively.

Until then I will continue to TORCH all correspondence that bores me and to dance NAKED over the remnants of its still glowing embers.

ah found a wonderful thing at the market wonderful flash cards with lovely smoothie recipes I'll type one out to enjoy:

Sleepy smoothie

the spicy blend of oranges , cloves and tea is wonderfully soothing . Caffine free and oh-so relaxing , chamomile also aids in digestion so the effects of a big meal no longer keep us awake at night.

Makes about 2 1/2 cups

1 1/2 cups of orange segments , or drained madarin oranges
2 table spoons of frozen OJ concentrate
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
2 teaspoons of honey
2 pinches of ground cinnamon
Pinch of  ground cloves
1 cup of strong brewed chamoile tea made into ice cubes and crushed

Combine the orange segments , OJ concentrate , lemon juice , honey , cinamon and cloves in a blender. Blend until the mixture is smooth and the honey is dissolved. Add the crushed tea ice cubes and blend until smooth

Greek Yoghurt- thats a brilliant idea, I dont like yoghurt but I could handle it in a smoothie- thanks! I never would have thought of frozen fruit either- nice one thanks Expat. Hmn, wonder if they sell the same bags at USA Costco.

That recipe sounds excellent Alicia- I like the idea of cinnamon and oranges together a lot.

I have even identitified a blender thanks to a thread on here, one that can go in the freezer- I will experiment and try to make a kind of sorbet with it.

:)
