Visa taking longer than everyone else's??
« on: September 01, 2005, 05:56:03 PM »
Hi, everyone. Looking for a little help figuring out what to do. My application arrived via FedEx to the NY Consulate at 9:55am. I know most everyone here mentions that they got a confirmation e-mail within 24 hours, but it's now been over 48 hours, and still not a peep. I'm extremely concerned at this moment, because I know there's someone here who got her visa and paperwork back already, and she was only a day behind me in the application process. They wouldn't throw out an application without saying anything, would they??  ???

I wouldn't worry.
Love your life, poor as it is. You may perhaps have some pleasant, thrilling, glorious hours, even in a poorhouse. The setting sun is reflected from the windows of the almshouse as brightly as from the rich man’s abode; the snow melts before its doors as early in the spring. Cultivate property like a garden herb, like sage. Do not trouble yourself much to get new things, whether clothes or friends. Turn the old; return to them. Things do not change; we change. Sell your clothes and keep your thoughts…

Thanks for the encouragement. It's extremely difficult not to panic when your entire life is on the line..

My student visa took 12 days to process with no confirmation from the LA consulate.  I'm still waiting for my FLR.

What kind of visa are you applying for?  I know it's stressful but I've never known anyone to be denied a visa with a complete application and no serious criminal record.

Apologies, it's a fiance visa. I'm just concerned because I know NYC is supposed to be the ultra-fast consulate, and that they keep you updated by e-mail, and I've been following Slices[something]'s application, since it's very similar and were received only a day apart..

Every application is taken on its own merits.  Just relax because you'll get your visa.  Why wouldn't you?   ;)

Well, I figured out what I did wrong. I sent the application without specifying "10th floor" in the address, so it's delayed. I called them, and got assured that it would be sent up the the 10th floor by tomorrow morning, I hope that's true..  :(

phew! That's a relief!  Once they get it they're pretty quick!  My visa was dated the 30th (the day after FedEx delivered it and the day they sent the first confirmation) and they let me know I was approved the very next morning.  Hope it goes as well for you!

PS expect your papers to be all jumbled together.  I had my stuff so organized and they put it back in the folder all higgledy-piggledy.

Yep, after many calls to a very expensive telephone number, it's at least being looked at.
I hope they're as speedy with it as they seem to have been with everyone else's.  ;D

Keep in mind that it's the holiday week-end over there, expect a bit of a back-up or at the least a few extra days.
