Thanks for reading this.  My soon to be fiance is moving to London on a work permit.  I would want to go and live with him (hopefully be able to work too!) What type of permit/visa would I need to join him.  He will be there for 2 years, then we will be moving back to the US.  Any suggestions? Also could 2 people live okay in London on his salary (40,000) pounds a year?

Thanks!

I'm afraid until you're actually married, you won't be able to get a visa or work permit to come and live with him in the UK.  Your other options though are to seek another type of visa, such as a student one.  When do you plan on being married?

£40,000 is a decent salary and I'm certain you would both get along fine on that sort of income.

Hello,

Wondering if you've made your move yet. I am in a similar situation except I am married. IF you've moved, how are you guys doing?

Thanks.

If you have been living together for two years or more, you can come with him as his unmarried partner.  You need the same documents that a spouse would, plus documents to prove the two years cohabitation.

When he applies for entry clearance, you can go on as his dependent.

I am sorry i hadn't spotted this post before!
