Sunny Seaside
« on: September 04, 2005, 10:04:12 PM »
Guess who went to the seaside today? It was a beautiful day for it!

It took us nearly 40 minutes to coax him off the blanket.  I swear I've never seen a child more reluctant to play in the sand.  I had to use orange segments to bribe him off the blanket, but once he got the hang of it, he was off like a shot.

Lovely photo, Cait!
When I am grown-up I will understand how BEAUTIFUL it feels to administrate my life effectively.

Until then I will continue to TORCH all correspondence that bores me and to dance NAKED over the remnants of its still glowing embers.

Aw, Cait!  He's adorable.  He looks so contemplative.

Aillidh was a little hesitant about the sand, too, at first.

Silly question from a non-mum, but are kids the same with snow?

This just got me wondering - I know we don't have too much in the U.K for British borns but it reminded me of puppies when they first encounter snow, the mystery and magic of it all - until their feet get cold and wet!

Hmm, can't speak for all kids, but we didn't have problems with snow this year.  Each time it snowed (even if it didn't stick) we always went to the window, watched it and stuck our hands outside to touch it.  We went outside and played in it the one time it did stick.  He wasn't hesitant at all.  Showed him how to make a snowball and he was off like a shot.

I think the sand is a bit more intimate than the snow since their shoes are off.

Lovely photo!

The first time we tried to put Ethan on the sand he wasn't having any of it but the next time we went he loved it. Which seaside town did you go to?

We went to Frinton.  We usually go to Clacton, but our downstairs neighbour who used to live in Frinton talked us in to trying it.

Nice pic Cait......and you're right, once that reluctance wears off they think there's something kinda "magical" about it :)...its certainly "magical" watching them enjoy it.

I think you're right, it just got me thinking. I love watching kids experiencing new things, like when they first pet a dog and do that wonderful giggle.

Anyway -sorry to go a bit o/t
