A little joy at the end of a sad weekend.
« on: September 05, 2005, 10:59:33 AM »
My good friend and colleague Maria passed away early saturday morning. She was 24 years old. She had been battling cancer since February. After two major operations and many sessions of chemotherapy the cancer spread throughout her body and there was nothing more anyone could do but provide comfort.  I have had a really tough time with her passing and I was in a really depressed state of mind.

She was a very good friend of Sergio Garcia(pro golfer) and he had visited her a few times here in London while she was in hospital. Last night I was watching the news just before bed and they were showing the highlights of the European Masters golf tournament. Sergio won by chipping in on the 16th and parring the last two holes to win by one stroke. In the news conference following he dedicated his win to Maria and her family and he spoke a bit about her. I felt some comfort from his words and thought it was touching that he remembered her in such a way.

I was very touched by this post- and I am very sad for your loss.

I am glad you found some comfort from his actions and hope you find more comfort in the days to come that your friend is not suffering any longer.

My sympathies as well. Glad to hear that Mr. Garcia was so gracious and kind.

So sorry to hear your loss.  I lost my best friend when she was 32 and I still mourn every day.  Life can be very cruel.  :\\\'(
