I remember there were a few things that were 2 for a penny!!!

How old are you anyway?! LOL...just kidding!  ;)

I remember too...the swedish fish and these little chewy taffies (which tasted awful, like scented soap...banana, strawbery etc???) were 2 for a penny. Things like the bubble gum cigars were more.

What were those fizzy candies? Hard on the outside, but fizzy "acid" in the middle!

Yes!! I remember the soapy things!! It was just the crap stuff that was 2 for a penny -- but you could get more things that way, so sometimes it felt worth it!

Nope...they were individually wrapped, about the size of a cough drop. Football-shaped, sort of. White, yucky, fizzy, acid stuff inside!!!! Wankers, wonkers????

Hey...that's a cool link. I still didn't see the candy I was thinking of...guess I am going to have to scour the net for a few minutes...back in a bit! (ooooh, that reminds me of those "bits o honey" chews!)

OK...typed "penny candy" in google and came up with this neat site: http://www.hometownfavorites.com/penny-candy.htm

Clicked on the site for '60s candy...and there they were at the very end...ZOTZ! I still remember the fizz on my tongue!

(I had forgotten about Razzlers...they tasted like waxy soap too!)

Ok. Geally, Im really showing my age now but those candies were called "Zotz". They came in individually wrapped but all joined together sort of sausage style. Are those what you are talking about?

Remember Charms pops? The ones before the blow pops? They were like a thickish flat sucker...blue was my favourite!

Cool link MeShell
I totally forgot about most that stuff. Especially Boston Baked Beans! :)

Speaking of sweets, do you all remember Farrells? The ice cream parlor where all the waiters and waitresses dressed old fashioned, and they had a player piano, and a HUGE sweet shop in the lobby? My fave when I was a kid was the clown sunday, ice cream in a dish, and they decorated it to look like a clown face. Man! That was the coolest!! They kinda faded out over the years, didn't they?

Oh yeah... Farrell's was a big treat for us as kids!
Remember the 'Zoo' sundae?   A huge enormous thing with lots of plastic animals all over it?
And what about that one that was called the Trough or something... if you ate the whole thing you got a rosette that said 'I MADE A PIG OF MYSELF AT FARRELLS'...   gee, what an honour!

The sweet shop at Farrells was brilliant... i used to buy that 'rock' candy... pure sugar crystals!
